CASEY: Rd 06 vs Sydney Swans VFL

Featured Replies

Despite all of the criticisms of the VFL and they way in which it's being run, the competition is an intriguing one.

We are five rounds into the season and every team has won and lost at least one game. Teams are displaying inconsistent form from week to week and none are dominating.

In the last round, the Casey Demons prevailed over Richmond VFL while the Sydney Swans VFL outfit which was a bit of a choppng block in 2025 beat last year's premiers Footscray.

They meet on Sunday as a virtual curtain raiser to the AFL game at Tramway Oval in Moore Park in the shadows of the SCG,

Geme time is 12.15pm on Sunday 3 May 2026

If you happen to be in the Coathanger City, here's a map showing the location of Tramway Oval but good luck If you're looking for a tram to catch.

Interesting that Tasmania has won 3 out of its 4 games.

Not really sure what to make of it. Will any of their players make the 2028 AFL list?

My guess is because of all the byes. Hard to play consistent footy with that kind of [censored]-up, I mean fixture.

Why wouldn't they just play it at the SCG beforehand?
Then again, I'm surprised they're not playing this game in Canberra just because it's the VFL.
Go Dees, we've got a fair shake this year but a fair few injuries depleting our stocks.
I missed the richmond game. Is it worth a watch?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the TigersĀ was building toward that single, unforgettable moment whenĀ Kozzie PickettĀ soared aboveĀ Campbell GrayĀ and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026Ā Frank ā€˜Checker’ Hughes Medal.Ā
