AT LEAST SOME ONE IS STEPPING UP

BROCK MCCLEAN U R A GUN

LOOK HE TACKLES JONATHAN BROWN AND ITS HOLDING THE BALL

With this many injuries we can't afford to give Davey a week or so off (tribunal might do it for us though). Make him work hard to get back into form I say. Maybe chuck him at half back and get some run.

Indeed - it doesn't look like we'll have any choice in terms of him missing a couple.

Needs to give us a bit of a spark - a couple of goals in this term would be nice.

Not likely.

I missed who captined the club today, but isnt mcdonald and mclean the only 2 from the leadership group in the side?

if so surely it would be chook as juinor captained last week.

wasnt ppl saying that brown needed to be dropped

i rest my case

His disposal hasn't been great as normal, however he will be 32 next year, I rest my case.

Half time report:

- Junior captain

- Melbourne finally manning-up, still can't deliver the ball forward

- Robbo getting belted

- We're getting spanked in the clearances... AGAIN!

- Frawley very good

- McLean getting free and finding the ball, good signs - 17 possessions so far

- Garland is very quick for his size

- Why isn't Newton at FF?

- Carroll doing a good job on Brown, with the help of the midfield

- We are terrible!

Oh, and I love Jonathan Brown!

obviously a poor scoreline but theyre having a dip - this is the worst side on paper the MFC has put on the park for a very long time

Agree with that all jaded, i would put bate a FF.

Buckley has found it harder this week, cneeds to lift

I'd argue our worst since 1997.

There is no experience in the vital areas. Our defence is make-shift at best, and we have no real midfield rotations.

It's a very young side, which is why it looks quite bad.

But when you think about it, the majority of these players should represent our club for years to come.

Apart from Brown, Ward, Bizzell, Junior and White, the rest of the squad has another 50-200 games left in them!

Our biggest issue is that without Bell and Rivers, we really struggle down back.

Frawley is doing a very good job so far, but Carroll is again fighting out of his weight/height division.

I'd argue our worst since 1997.

Id go back further...lol

I have to keep reminding myself of this!! Who does Brisbane have out? I can't think!!

Frawley doing a good job again. Looks like Danners faith was well placed.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
