Injury List Update

He would want to make next year happen otherwise the game will pass him by.

Ive been wonderig about Beamer for some time. Some hard and uneviable decision may be made by this club as certain realities may overtake hopes and aspirations.

I've been thinking about him too.

IMO though, he showed plenty early this season to retain his spot on the list for the next couple of years.

But that's just my opinion.

A couple of years? I can't see how that's possible. If he has another year off the park again next year, then he will go down in history as a "coulda been", and we get to spend the rest of our lives talking about how good he might have been, if only...

Beamer's one of my favourite players, but if he has another year where he can't get on the park then unfortunately he's finished. 3 years for less than 10 games? We're talking about an injury where you only have to push yourself that 1% too hard and its up again. You have to draw the line somewhere.

That said, if he is able to get his body right then yes, he'll retain his spot for the next couple of years.

I think we're overreacting here.

Beamer was on track to make a full recovery, then injuries happened which forced him to play out full games. This has obviously set him back, however he is not on the long-term injury list, in fact, he is playing in the VFL. That says to me that while he isn't 100%, he is able to play at a reduced capacity.

I don't see any reason why, with a modified pre-season, he can't get back on the field next year. We'll need to manage him in the same way we manage Sylvia, Brock and now Rivers. High rotation and the likes.

Moloney is an important part of our side and he should be back to prove that next year.

You doom-sayers upset me! :(;)

doomsayers ?...no....just some overdue pragmatism. we all seem to live in cloud cuckoo land here at Deeland at times. Sometimes ..youknow...what walks like, soundslike and fles like a duck ...is a duck !!. The realities of football ( as much of life ) arent always palatble. butyou can either face them , deal with thtemand move on makingthe bestof it...or continue to to take the little green and pink happy pills !!

Again I would certainly prefer to see a fit ( not fitter...but FIT !!! ) Beamer take his position on the grass, but if that doesnt happen we all need to move on.

Indeed bub, I completely agree. It's not doomsaying, it's just coming to grips with what looks like an increasingly real possibility. Jaded's right in that it is too early to write Moloney off yet, but personally I am preparing for the possibility that he'll sooner or later lose his battle with OP.

If he cannot make sustain a near fully fit 2008, then Beamer's future is clouded. He has already had two years out of football.

He has already had two years out of football.

No he hasn't.

He had last year out of footy.

This year he played the first half of the season, had about 3 weeks off, and is now back playing VFL. There is nothing to say he won't be back in the seniors by the end of the year.

Sylvia's OP was just as troublesome and we didn't give up on him. Moloney is only a couple of years older, and has plenty of time to get himself right.

I have every confidence in him and in our medical staff. If they can manage Sylvia, they can manage Beamer.

David Neitz (hamstring) - test

Is he being tested for his hamstring, his knee, his finger...

Surely no chance of playing this week?

Already ruled himself out.

He might be 'tested' until the end of the season. I rather he didn't play and got proper time to recover.

It will mean Newton gets more opportunities as number one tall forward, Neita can have adequate time to get his knee right, and can play his 300th next year in our 150th year.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
