We all know Juice is going to mke a fine kpp but it's worth looking at this kid who booted 14 in the SANFL at the weekend - http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0...7-24390,00.html

"DANIEL who? If SANFL fans were unsure of who Central District forward Daniel Havelberg was before yesterday, they aren't now after the 19-year-old booted an amazing 14.1 in the Bulldogs' 158-point rout of Norwood at Elizabeth."

When you [censored] a team by 26 goals plus everyone looks good even the bootstudder!

Its hard to make an assessment of kicking 14 goals in a whitewash. Its still 14 goals and well done on the achievement but how has he gone against better opposition in a pressure game.

i saw the reply of the central districts-Norwood match the other day and saw the damage the kid caused.

yes there wasnt alot of resistance from Norwood but any kid who kicks 14 goals in a game cant be too bad.

looks like he well be a good player and certainly will be drafted.

He will get bigger too so i wouldnt worry too much about the 188cm but alot of his marks where taking up on the lead but he was an exceptional kick the other day. that is the first time i have seen Havelberg play but i must admit i wouldn't mind seeing the kid play in the red and the blue.

he'll have a couple of inches left in him. Not a bad effort on any day !!.

fergus watt kicked 10 in the finals of the seniors once.

thank god he wanted to go to the saints and we didn't give up a first round draft pick for him.

He maybe only 188 cm but how tall was Ablett snr? He may grow some more but he may not. The 14.1 is very accurate kicking and I suggest it would normally be about 8.7 from that many scoring shots. So I wouldn't get too excited from just one exceptional game. If a 19 year old kicked 8.7 for Sandy in a huge win like that, he'd be lucky to be promoted (rightly or wrongly).

never hurts to have a plan B

188cm ff? no thanks

Allen Jakovic was 186 cm's

Ablett was about 188

Gary Ablett snr was the greatest player I have ever seen play the game.

This guy may not even get drafted.

Allen Jakovic was 186 cm's

Ablett was about 188

You'll find they were both 185cm ie 6ft 3/4in.

Gary Yablitt is by far and away without doubt, no ifs buts maybes or whatevers the finest player EVER. EVER.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
