I'd like to keep Hendo for a year

i just remember his stutter step approach to tackling in the north melbourne game and i put a line through him from that point onwards, was scared to hit blokes, he would slow down and corral his oponent instead of running through them, not what i want my small forwards to do, also dont think he has the goal sense required or has the speed of mind to make the next step from vfl - slow to dispose

I think Henderson will get a second year, players normally get 2 years to prove themselves. It will be interesting to see where White and Sinemma go in the draft if they don't get picked up they can go on the rookie list meaning Laurie and McAdam don't have be delisted then rookied. If only one falls through the draft then it means Laurie won't have to be delisted then rookied.

Here's hoping White and Sinnema don't get drafted and we land Flanders and Miochek.

I'm seriously concerned about the age profile of our list when breaking it down positionally. Looking at Freos list they have 10 players 196cm+, a few developing, a few regular seniors and Omac and Reidy (who wants out) as depth. We have 3, two of them are 34yo rucks and one is Jed Adams.

OOC in 2026: May, McDonald, Adams who all on form to date would be more unlikely than likely to be signed on (Adams probably gets a 5th!! season as depth due to lack of options. Alongside Turner who is the priority signing of the group

then at the other end you have: Jefferson, Kentfield, Johnson, McAdam, Melksham, Fritsch, of which Fritsch definitely deserves 2 years and Kentfield either 1 or 2 depending how he progresses, and then you're either going into year 5 with Jeffo or year 3 with Johnson who have not shown any AFL gamechanging ability, plus a 35yo vet and a 30yo who's injury prone

Plus our 34yo only backup ruck.

I know that Heath, Derksen, Berry and White somewhat replenish our talls + anyone we sign next year. but we are going into next year with such an inbalanced list profile i think it's one of my larger issues with our list management team.

EOS24' we lost Brown, Tomlinson, Smith, Farris-White, Schache all at once, none of them obviously deserved another season but the waves at which we seem to be alternating tall and small and the rate at which they go out and are obviously replaced isnt there. Geelong have for example played Kolodjashnij in the 2s for large parts of teh season because OSullivan has taken his place, Hawk went out Neale came in, Stanley breaks down they have Conway and 2 other developing rucks behind him.

We have the guys in the seniors and then no one, if Adams and Jefferson turn out to be busts, we would have one tall under 22yo being Kentfield.

We also seemingly threw all our post gawn/jackosn ruck eggs in one 199cm rookies basket rather than taking a few 200+ beanstalks to nuture which seemed like a really odd choice at the time and a bit of a hedging of the bets to either regenerate LJ or repurpose into a KPF. Imagine if we had a Moyle or a Dodson just tearing up the vfl and knowing maxy had trained them up

But also Petty is our only tall between 33 and 23 as well, its a bad mix is all im saying. Tall players are some of the most exciting and dominant players and prospects clubs have on their lists and i think the lack of that for us has me quite demoralised, would love a couple of tall 198+ prospects who really attack the footy in the air at vfl level and kick truly to really get behind and get me up and about

Henderson signs up for another year as a category A rookie. Ok itโ€™s getting tight for list spots available.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chancesโ€”plenty of themโ€”but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Portโ€™s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
