is ZeroHanger a reliable source? Suspect its guestimation.

Some players ie McKay/Lynch are likely at peak year of front/backloading.

You'd think people (or at least Zero Hanger) would have a full grasp of this after the shameful commentaries about Koutafides, who backended his contract to hell twice so that Carlton could cope when the AFL decided to enforce the salary cap on them for a few seasons.

But trying to piece together a full picture of the peaks and troughs of player salaries would be quite the task, and nobody would click!

Still, Ben McKay, lol. It should read 'Ben Mckay plus the premium rate for not having to use any trade value in the AFL's ridonkulus patchwork system.

It's worth reminding ourselves that none of these players (or their managers on their behalf) held a gun to the head of their respective club's list managers. That the players are getting the pay rates that they are is a decision of the club that contracts with them. Some clubs just happen to make better decisions than others.

Yes, I wouldnโ€™t blame Ben for the contract he was givenโ€ฆ No offence, but thatโ€™s a bit boiler plate - we are painfully aware that the genesis of bad decision making are footy departments not players.

so ben mckay is the only backman in the top 10ย ๐Ÿค”

so that makes him the most valuable backman in the whole leagueย ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

i have a bridge for sale at a bargain priceย ๐Ÿ˜Ž
