Melbourne went within four points of eating Crow on the MCG in their Round 19, 2023 encounter at the MCG. That was the margin that saw them breathing sighs of relief as they got across the line to beat Adelaide. In doing so, they put four more important points inside the winning column for their season. Max Gawn was in great form accumulating 38 hit outs and kicking a couple of goals and Kozzie Pickett returned to form with a crashing game.

Crows were flying at that stage in the season as well, having beaten the Lions, just lost to Collingwood and pushing GWS. Totally different formline for them now.
