Nice to see Bruce not getting votes purely on statistics! For a leader of the club he didn't seem to have too much of an impact?!?! :( Davey had a ripper, as did River and Moloney.... Not sure what more Petterd had to do to get into the top 3?!?! An outstanding game and worth more than 2 votes IMO :o

Expect Newton to be on this list this time next week :)

I thought Petterd was terrific. But honestly, at the end of the day, taking away that he's 18, first game, etc... I didn't think he had more influence than the ones above him.

Fair call :) That will happen next year :D

I wasn't at the game, but i had Godfrey as bog.

Dominated Goodes before and after his so called shoulder injury (was so bad, he didn’t leave the field). It is a pity because the commentators kept on talking about the injury taking away from Godders game which was excellent.

Have to admit, I also think Godfrey is a little unlucky. Definitely top 3 for us. Was given a tough job and did it brilliantly.

Also, while I have never been a big fan of Bell, I though he played a good, tough game and deserved votes.

Probably fair re Bell. Different game at ground level, and I thought he was good, but not better than the 6 I chose.

Godders did a very good job on Goodes, extremely good in fact. However, 4 kicks, 14 handballs, a couple of turnovers and an injured Goodes means I didn't have him top 3.

The standings after round five and Brent Moloney and Cameron Bruce are our leaders with the Flash moving up fast:-

35. Brent Moloney

31. Cameron Bruce

23. Aaron Davey

21. Brad Green

20. Brad Miller

12. David Neitz

11. Russell Robertson

10. Ricky Petterd

8. Jeff White

5. Nathan Carroll

3. Daniel Ward

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
