Woowoodins 5 bounce and Goal

There were a few in that final against Carlton in 2000

not many our supporters are probably the most silent in the AFL to be honest. Farmer's mark in 1998 against Richmond would be up there along with the one in 1998 Prelim Against North which we lost.... also the general atmosphere of the Prelim in 2000 where we probably played our best game of footy i have ever seen (how good were Powell, and Farmer towelling Pickett that night) and also the Adelaide 2002 Semi were ones that made me get chills....

For me it was the roar at the half time siren of the 1987 elimination final, followed closely by the one after the National Anthem before the game.

Powerful stuff.

Nothing has come close since.

GO DEES

WE TEND TO 'CLAP' MUCH MORE THAN ROAR...

Maybe the majority of our supporters are overly introverted without realising & the feedback the players onfield recieve from crowd response helps to instill a lack of extravertism.

When I was a kid back in the late 80s early 90s, a roar on the back flank would always go up when Rodney grinter smacked some poor sods teeth out behind play.

I loved grinter, he has harder than a male pornstars......

jeff white goal v the bullies 2 years ago in round 21

ditto

In the final against the Saints last year - Davey comes back on after the Baker free and 50, grabs the ball out of nowhere, takes a bounce or two on the boundary line and delivers it to Neitz in the goal square. When Neitz takes that mark, the crowd Roars. That goal puts us in front I believe. Watch the replay of that 4th quarter on Bigpond if you can, it's worth it just for that moment.

Considering how depressing football is at the moment, three cheers for this thread.

I'll add in the roar when we hit the front against the Crows in the 2002 final. Spine-chilling. Unfortunately, there was a 4th quarter to that game.

In that 02 SF, the roar when Yze goaled from the forward pocket, 60s after Vardy had done from the same spot, and the standing ovation Clint Bizzell got for his spoil on Mark Stevens, soccer off the ground, chase and dive at the loose ball and then diving tackle on Stenglein, creating the loose ball for Armstrong and then Yze.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
