I wouldn't be dead against playing Brad Green out of the goal square.

While it was a few seasons ago now, the guy did win a final for Melbourne playing at full forward.

It's not ideal, as the midfield is also struggling, but Melbourne need to add some goalkicking power to a pretty bare forwardline.

I agree.

IMO Green is better in the forward line than in the midfield. He's got such a lethal left foot.

green at FF is possibly the best option

Why Green?

His kicking for goal has become a joke over the last couple of years. An out of form small forward does nothing, eg. Davey, where as an out of form midfielder might still get a few touches, eg. Johnstone.

Besides we need our leadership group in the guts this week.

Why Green? Cos he has proved that he can actually play at full forward at AFL level.

Paul Johnson on the other hand, is lucky to be in the team after his Sandringham performance last week. Johnson has proved nothing at AFL level.

With so many key players out, EVERYBODY in the team has to lift. Like I said earlier, it's not ideal to take Green out of the midfield, but in my opinion, he is one of the options that might actually help Melbourne kick a decent score this week.

I'm with Ash.

I'd rather have quality small forwards down there who could provide something a bit different than just putting a big bloke there because he is big rather than having the ability.

I wouldn't mind seeing guys like Green, Yze and even CJ rotate through FF.

I don't get it. Why the sudden fascination with Bizzell and the forward line?

As a tall forward, he can't mark nor out-muscle Scarlett.

As a smaller, more mobile forward, he doesn't have the speed.

He was an eratic forward at Geelong, who flew for the occasional specie, but was extremely ordinary overhead or on the lead.

If he plays, I hope they use him to cover the loss of Rivers.

Any backline would struggle to cover all of those guys at the same time.

So long as you have crumbers at their feet and the ball is kicked in long and fast it could be a deadly combination.

The Geelong backline would out-run, out-mark and out-smart them all (apart from possibly Holland, who is pretty hard to out-mark).

We cannot win with a forward line of slow tanks, not against one of the best backlines in the competition.

And the way our crumbers (Davey and Yze) are travelling at the moment, I don't know how much you'd get out of them.

Cos he is a smart, veteran footballer who has kicked bags of goals in the past

Combine that with the fact we are desperate to find players capable of kicking a goal, and it all makes sense

Green was recently troubled by some sort of injury to a foot which did not prevent him running and playing but interfered with the kicking. He had surgery in the off-season and is now clearly kicking the ball as we know he can.

Green would be the best option. Give him a chance before giving it to Johnson or whatever. If he can just get a few nice lace out passes to him the rest could follow!
