This week was Sylvias chance to shine

Stick the Kid at full forward on the best full back in the business (Scarlett) and see what he is made of

Could have been the start of something special

Once again, the coaching staff and selectors fail MISERABLY

Colin, I would ask for a trade at seasons end if I were you. This club can not produce champions. You could be a champion one day, but if you stay here you will just be another Green, Johnstone or Bruce

Vey weird Sylia hasnt been put into the side. especially with brock missing, he would add that extra grunt.

But I`m no coach..... must be a good reason y he isnt in.

If the injury situation were within normal levels Sylvia would have been given 1-2 more weeks to get completely match-fit. But under the circumstances I can't for the life of me understand why he hasn't been rushed back in. Unless he's got OP issues from last week that we don't know about...

God forbid.

id rather have him up and going ... than underdone... and the chance of pushing it too far.. another injury?..

under frustrating season because he was rushed back.... give him 1 more week... its really not as bad us u make it to sound yze magic

Sylvia's a FF? ;o

He is an Ablett-type player

Can do damage up around the midfield, or could win a Coleman at full forward

he has a massive vertical leap, and is strong as an ox and a beautiful kick

And he is wasting away at Sandy for another week

under the right coaches and fitness staff, he could be better than Ablett

Not wasting away at Sandy - not picked in their team. Not on the club's injury list either so he must have sustained an injury late in the week or alternatively, the club kept it quiet.

Riiight.

Ablett like? *shakes head*

Sylvia pulled up sore from last week and the club doesn't want to risk long term damage for a possible short term gain.

Completely agree.Well said.

Some of the comments on this thread do little but highlight the limitations of the posters not their targets.

After this comment, I am now convinced you have absolutely no idea about football.

Completely no idea.

Usually your crap talk is amusing, but this comment is just plain dumb.

How is it dumb?

The kid was taKen at pick 3 for a reason

he has more talent than anyone drafted this decade, Judd included

Heaven help the rest of the AFL if Sylvia ever gets his body right

Please stop. It's all too much.

First of all, I assumed when you mentioned Sylvia at full forward being better than Ablett you meant Gary Ablett Snr, but you were obviously talking about Nathan Ablett.

Yes, he was taken at pick 3 for a reason, but how good does that make the guys taken pick 1 & 2.

And more talent than anyone drafted this decade? You need to watch more football.

The 2 guys picked before him are nowhere near as talented

it just so happens that 2 pathetic clubs -Cartlon and the Bulldogs - picked before us

it was common knowledge at the time amongst recruiters that Sylvia was the best kid in the land. Way better than Cooney, and as for Walker well dont even go there

Colin is riddled with injury. If he had an injury free run like Judd has, he would have a Brownlow by now

YZE MAGIC.....mate he obviously cant shine this w.e cause hes underdone, ND sed so!!

So enough of your whinging and moaning alright....

Im sick of it to be honest all of you people bagging the coaching staff, of course its disappointing that Sylvia didnt get up this week but the coach is always gonna pick a fit player over someone who is underdone and sore

FOOL

Btw have some faith demon supporters, its 22 v 22 out there on Sunday, anything can happen....i repeat anything can happen........

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
