Titan, I'm not sure of the plan that D was referring to, but the red cross on the map below shows the length and width of the MCG playing area (162m x 139m) overlaid on Gosch's. (Taken from Google Earth)

Well that is clearly attainable with little disruption to the overall setting.

I agree with Its Time, who said that Goschs now seems the likely place for our new training centre, given the Pert comments.

As far as losing about $2m for NT and QB games, a premiership would wipe that out in a flash, with memorabilia sales, increased membership and sponsorship. They would make millions off the back of a flag.

Now all we need to do is win the Premiership.

That seems only a "smallish" increase to match the MCG size oval with a small diversion of some pathways. Admin building would be ideal along the south east side of the park bordering Swan Street. Underground parking would be a must.

The actual MCG ground dimensions fence to fence (that is including boundaries) are approximately 174m east to west and 145m north to south. So there’s a title more  ground to be squeezed in!

The official MCG measurements are 160 x 141. Is the distance between the boundary and the fence 7metre. That seems like too much.

I’ve just found my notes on this subject from a couple of years ago when I was doing some work at the MCG. The ground measurements are actually 173.6 metres long by 148.4 meters wide fence to fence (my apologies for being incorrect before). I notice that I put in brackets beside those measurements the same measurements for the playing surface as you quote  i.e. 160 x 141. The difference in the length of almost 7 meters at each end can be explained by the fact that it is the distance from goal line to fence, the increased area behind the goals in which the goal umpire is given to work and adjudicate. There are also pits at each end of the ground which house the netting structures put up to protect patrons during pre game practice, so that 7 meter distance is necessary. Around the rest of the ground the distance is around 3.5 - 4 metres (interchange area excepted).

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
