My 3 word player analysis vs Hawthorn

The knocking of Petty on the game day thread was really ordinary. What did people expect for his 12th game?  The poor bloke was clearly nervous, probably still gets flashbacks to that St.Kilda game. Thought he showed some promising signs in the second half. Others should reflect on how many games Weideman has been gifted to develop at AFL level, before knocking Petty in his 1st senior game since 2019.

Frost: Past meets present!

If you could have Lever of Frost, there is simply no comparison.  A display of what ‘improving the list’ looks like.

If thats the case regarding Petty copping criticism Chief, Im with you.

He was brought in to fill a crucial role in a well drilled and functioning  back 6 after a considerable layoff with injury. Thats no mean feat.

He played his role competently and did everything he was asked

Harry can hold his head up high.

Gawn - a phenomenal performance

Oliver - inside work incredible

McDonald - a wonderful target

Salem - classy and reliable

Petracca - damaging as always

Pickett - always super dangerous

Jackson - frees up Max

Lever - rock down back

Langdon - 3 clutch goals

Rivers - reads it well

Hibberd - broke lines late

Viney - selfless team player

Brayshaw - courageous and tough

Tomlinson - super improved player

Brown - couple goals late

Jordon - seems very tired

Melksham - junk time goals

Neal- Bullen - applied great pressure

Hunt - burst from defence

Spargo - tried his hardest

Petty - was shaky early

Jones - 300 then dropped?

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
