I hear you, but the Team of the Year concept is in no way an AA team when 18 of the players are Victorians and are playing in Victoria comp, sprinkled with several interstate recruits like kernahan. By that logic there are no other players in the Wafl Sanfl Tfl etc worthy of a guernsey which would most likely be implausible.

So its a VFL Team of the Year. Still a great honour though.

By the late 80s I'd be surprised if any players outside the VFL were good enough to qualify! VFL was far and away the premier competition by the early 80s

Garry McIntosh from Norwood would have waltzed into any ‘All Australian’ team during the late 80s to mid 90s

Who else?

Lyon may be a bit annoying to  but Andy Maher makes me want to smash my non-existent TV .

He has a voice like a blowfly and an intellect to match.

There is no doubting Lyons football ability either.

He had zero weaknesses in his game and was one of the best players in an era that was probably the best in terms of skill level and champions.

Ablett,Lockett,Lyon...

Same breath.
