Ladder streaks - not in this position. Essendon hold a near unbeatable record for the longest period of time without occupying a certain ladder position. From Round 1 1934 to Round 2 1992 they failed to occupy 12th spot on the ladder - a combined total of 1109 rounds. The longest period of time not in 1st place on the ladder belongs to Sydney with 557 rounds from Round 2 1959 to Round 5 1986. Melbourne are currently more than half way to this total - they last occupied top spot in Round 3 2005, 337 rounds ago and need exactly another 10 seasons without sitting 1st to equal that record. --- Useless AFL Stats

Hmm thanks for that, just what I needed.

West Coast’s record without occupying bottom, or second bottom and throw in 15th while you’re at it, is in serious trouble when we smack them by 15 goals R1.

Which would also sort our run for position 1/2 as well.

BUMP

A potential record not broken. To think we only got around half way off the longest streak NOT to occupy #1.

Feel a little sorry for those bloods supporters in the 60s, 70s and 80s. After last night, not so much for the bloods 2020s supporters...

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval.
