Every side has VFL standard players, as not every player drafted becomes an AFL player, simply on numbers alone.

The aim is to have 22 very good AFL players in your side and then depth players.

The better lists bat a bit deeper, or have stars among their best 22.

Most young players when drafted, are clearly VFL players or worse.

It is silly to say we are no good because we have VFL players, we always will, but hopefully less of them.

The post doesn’t say that we are no good because we have VFL level players. It says “The MFC will not win a premiership until it recruits and develops elite players like those of Richmond, Geelong, Collingwood, West Coast. We have chosen poorly in the past year and developed some potential elite players poorly. Max Gawn was just about our only elite player this year based on performance. The catastrophic drop to the bottom of the ladder had a reason. We just don’t have the cattle.”

Who do you think played at the elite level this year?

I thought Salem first 2/3 of the season, then poor for the rest.

He got injured towards the end of the season and wasn't the same player.

I have no problem signing Wagner on for another year.  He is on the rookie list after all, so it may just be that he has kept his spot on there for 2020, rather than being upgraded.  He showed he could be a depth player so this doesn't hurt us at all in the grand scheme of things.

Great reply. Attack the poster rather than the content. Which players do you think were elite this year?

How many on your list were actually given a run at AFL level? How many were injured? How many were first year or rookies? It was a laughable post.

It wasn’t my list. It was President Dee Trump. Glad you can still laugh at yourself though!

My mistake, but the comment stands regarding the PDTs list. And for someone who was complaining about the fact I attacked the poster, you’re doing quite well on that front with the second line of your post, no?

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
