COMEBACK

Aaron vandenBerg came out of the wilderness late in the season to play in the finals after being forced out of the game for 18 months when stress fracture in his heel developed into Haglund's disease. The strong and aggressive midfielder displayed outstanding form on his comeback but may be forced to step away from the club due to family commitments in NSW.

Really gave us a new edge in physicality when he was able to shake his injury, will be sorely missed if he goes to Sydney.

Vanders is tough as and when he tackles you stay hit as we saw when he came back from injury. More so when playing in the finals  he went to another level. Vaders came back physically built like a bull  and looked amazing , much bigger l thought  . His first 2 finals games was so solid it looked like he was built for finals.

We need him and looks a vital player to have in the side. Can play mid and forward is precise with his kicking  is  big bodied and tackles hard. A second tier just under the elite. Hard to find.  Unfortunately is looking to go home.   I hope he stays l am hoping.

Thought he struggled a bit in his first game back against the Suns, but just kept getting better as the season rolled on.  Earlier in the season before he had even played again, some on here were suggesting (hoping) that he might come back into the side and provide some X factor for finals.  To be honest, with the run the MFC have had with cronic injuries I'd pretty much conceded that he wouldn't play again, but was pleasently surprised.

All this in the context of his tragic personal circumstances.  Really shows the great character of the guy and you can understand how he would be such a good influence on the younger guys like Oliver that I recall it was reported he shares a house with.  As suggested above, really hope we don't loose him, but wouldn't begrudge him for leaving under the circumstances and he has already made a pretty valuable contribution to the MFC in the time he has been here.

yep really hope we can keep him. His value is highest staying with us. great team player and came back magnificently really after such a long lay off for a big unit.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
