Garland To Wear Number 20

8- Frawley

15- Petterd

20- Garland

28- Weetra

42- Hayes

โ€œThe number 20 holds an important place at the Melbourne Football Club. It means a lot to me, and I am really pleased that the Melbourne fans will see the number 20 being worn on the MCG again, and it will serve as an ongoing memory of Troy,โ€ Trisha Broadbridge said today.

This is a big thing for a first year player, having to wear a number previously worn by a fallen teammate. I wish him all the best and hopefully he does the jumper and Troy's memory proud.

Thanks Jaded.

With due respect to the memory of Troy Broadbridge, its high time that his number taken out of mothballs. Apt comments by Trisha too.

Good luck to the new players and I hope they all do their numbers proud.

I hope frawley turns out better than the previous no.8 anyway.

I hope he is just AS servicable for a start.

Let's talk about better in a couple of years.

Go Dees - Not long to go now.

If it has the blessing of Trisha and Troys family, then I am fine with it

Go Dees - Not long to go now.

I hope that he's as good a defender as another wearer of # 8 - Bob "Tassie" Johnson who played in a few premiership teams and became captain og the MFC and a hall of famer.

be quite happy if Frawley wears the jumper and number as well as ol' Yeats !!

Good luck to Colin.

The previous #8 played 100 games for MFC, a pretty good effort.

15 has been a dud number since Stan Alves, let's hope Ricky can turn that around.

28 has not been any better, have to go way back to Terry Gleeson - go Isaac!

Walshy made 42 - a good model for Daniel Hayes.

No 44 - that's a number I like. Good to see Jamar and Carroll sticking with the 40s.

Tingay wore this jumper in the early 90's

And what about Paul Hopgood!

......yeah a dud jumper otherwise.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
