Sorry all, I've been so busy with work and building a new house that Demonland has been a rare occurrence lately.... I'm keen to be involved (for the whole season this time) and also my little Demon is also keen to jump on board...

So there's TWO more for the league - We have signed up!

The draft night is not Wednesday is it?

I'm in Sydney on a work junket until Thursday so won't be in a position to be completing a draft... Next Sunday is a better option yeah?

Hey Krazy

Welcome back champ & welcome to your young bloke also.

Draft night is not Wednesday, hoping Poita updates details soon to Sunday 18th March......

I've joined - sorry it took me a little bit of time to get around to it!

@poita - thanks for setting this all up!  The draft night is set for this Wednesday but needs to be changed to the 18th of March if you see this before then!

If I get the time I'm also happy to do a write up of how each match up fared over the weekend.  I did this a few years back the last time I played and people seemed to enjoy it, so I'm happy to have another crack if I get the time once the season is underway!

Paging @poita - sorry to be a pest mate, but the draft is still set for tomorrow night and not this coming Sunday night.  Hopefully you'll see this and can get it changed!  Cheers in advance.

@poita Hey Mate......

We need to change the Draft Date ASAP.

Hopefully the uneven number of teams don't let it proceed tonight otherwise this might get messy.

@Wiseblood Hey Wisey

Awesome offer for weekly wrap ups mate, Krazy was doing some good stuff early last season also..

Its going to be a big season, let's hope we get the Draft date sorted ASAP

Do we have a 12th team on the horizon?

I might be able to get a mate to join but I'll have to double check.

Hopefully @poita pops by soon to confirm the date of the draft!

If @Krazy Jaeger O'Smeara was doing them last season and wants to continue then I'm fine with that, I don't want to step on any toes.  If he's happy to pass on the baton then I'll be happy to do them.  Might even try and fit in a season preview as well. :)

Krazy has gone ...so wise blood continue....We need OMR to take over management if Poita cannot do it....this is becoming ridiculous.

if indeed, just a blooper....no issue...but we need to get act together.

I'd put my hand up to do more but I actually run a separate Ulitimate Footy League with 14 people from my work. I manually enter the draft picks after a 4 1/2 hour [censored] up draft at the pub and then prepare a season preview that of course predicts me to finish first and sledges the chances of all of my opposition. It's good fun and it would be great if we could replicate that vibe here. The weekly wrap ups were awesome last year.

I totally agree re: the vibe of it.  I think some previews, weekly wrap ups and a bit of banter makes things much more fun.  Not to mention everyone logging in regularly to check if their are trade offers on the table.  When I played a few years back I would offer a trade or two and find it sitting there three weeks later which was frustrating.

I've got my Sunday night free so hopefully we can organise the draft for then and get things underway!

Guys, we need to get our house in order - re management of our league.I was contacted by Ultimate footy earlier , to say, the draft was on tonight.Earlier tonight, I was further contacted to say, it would be autopicked due to only 11 teams.

i want to know now, what the F..K goes on now ,

please advise !

Good on ya- didn't realise you were so, so involved....mighty game isn't it.....like the MFC need to get the right culture going....including myself, my spirit.

Are you & OMR the same person or just together at same place, at the same time?

JCB - Agree we need Admin control back otherwise this season won't get off the ground...We just need 1 extra player & The draft night changed to Sunday 18th March 8.00pm. How do we change Admin rights now?

All - I have contacted Ultimate Footy for assistance. Stay tuned I will update once they have responded ?

Good move, OMR.  As you say, we need to get things off the ground and make sure everyone is aware of the draft date etc so the season gets underway without too many problems.

Hi All

OK - Success the Draft is now officially Sunday 18th March 2018 @ 8.00pm.

We still need one more team to proceed & Im still working on getting Admin rights transferred to myself pending Poita's reappearance.

Scoring is the same as last year, I'll put it out there once I get some visability.

Nice work OMR!  That's good news!

I saw poita posting here a little earlier so hopefully he's seen the messages and everything is going okay!

Hey JCB

Adam is working on another team tonight.

If that doesn't come off I have another plan... Relax now mate I've got this.  We are going to have a huge interactive season.  And I'm going to kick your ass all the way ?

Good on ya champ...

Hey all,

My mate John has just signed up to the league, so now we have 12 players!  He's never played before but he loves a bit of fantasy footy and is keen to have a crack.

So everything seems to be clicking into place nicely!  Bring on the draft! :)

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
