2017 Business of Sport Luncheon

No but they obviously have a comedian in attendance.

Nice for Barrett to accept the invitation.

The comedian is the MFC staffer who selected purple.

The ex MRP rep should be a barrel of interesting laughs too !

I've been to my fair share of corporate luncheons in my time. That is the worst panel of presenters I have seen.

i hope the food and wine is good!

Whose the 3rd on the left ?

Very professional function put on by the MFC, 53 tables 10 per table should be a highly profitably day.

Sensational day for all our sponsors and the event sponsor Bendigo Bank.

Footy Panel included - Caroline Wilson, Damo, Jimmy Bartel and sport media photographer ( sorry forgot his name - but he was also Jimmy Stynes brother in-law) panel was insightful, funny and gave an honest upfront view regarding the media and AFL footy in 2017.

1-1 with Mike Sheahan was Saint Nick Reiwoldt - brilliant interview, Nick is a superstar, talked about his career, toughest opponents and what the future might hold.

Small auction  - notable was a donated barrell of Tyrrells Wine sold for $6000

Final Segment - Rodney Hogg - hilarious and got a real insight to the real man.

Best thing about these days 80-90% of audience are non-MFC supporters and they are tipping in close to $100,000 for our club.

Great to see ex-president Don McLardy there, plus a few other notable current and past admin team members still contributing to the club.

Well worth the admission fee - see you next year.

Melbourne returned to its city citadel, IKON Park, boasting a 10–2 home record and celebrating its 100th AFLW matchwith 3,711 fans creating a finals atmosphere. But in a repeat of Round 11, Brisbane proved too strong, too fit, and too relentless.  They brought their kicking boots: 9 goals, 2 points.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Brisbane

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.
