Mitch Hannan has banked them on a nice angle 40 out when it mattered recently. When i saw it was his golden locks with the mark v bris in the last few mins, i breathed a sigh of relief... i think he then passed it, which was also smart.

Perfect opportunity to roll out one of Dennis Cometti's best ever lines. When asked who he'd want kicking for goal if his life depended on it, his answer was (paraphrasing): "My mother. At least I know she'd be trying".

If it's after the siren and between 40m and 50m I do go for Jones. There's enormous pressure under such circumstances and I'd be a bit worried about Watts in that circumstance. Jones has become a very reliable kick and I don't think pressure would worry him. Salem would be my next choice. Over 50m and I'd choose Watts as his technique and range is better than Jones or Salem at that distance, even with he pressure added.

And I'm not sure why anyone wants Garlett. He's great on the run, but not so hot on set shots.

Outside 50  from the boundary after the siren in Darwin, I know who I'd pick...

Outside 50 from the boundary after the siren in Tasmania, I know who I wouldn't pick...

Pre hamstring Watts you'd have him inside 50 and outside 50. Would still have him inside 50 but would go Tmac or Vince for outside 50 for now.

Hogan can't kick 40m+ unfortunately on a set shot. Something to do with his posture, hamstrings, and that guy inside his head.

Robbie Flower. No one said it had to be a current day player. If only he (l think it was Tony Campbell) had handballed to Robbie while running towards goal in the last quarter of the 1987 prelim against the Hawks ...

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
