Alice Springs: Dees vs. Gold Coast

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Who is making the trek for this match?  I will be there with a few friends, none of us have ever been to Alice Springs.

Who has been before?  Can you purchase beers at the match?  Is there an appropriate pre-game and post-game venue where other Dees supporters will be stationed?  The 'dreamtime' game will be on that night, so we'll need to check that out as well.

Can't wait, should be an interesting experience and hopefully a win.

There is a dry and a drinking area, assume you can buy beers in the drinking area. No idea yet about pre and post game functions, but is a small town, won't be hard to find out. Last year the Power stayed at the Hilton, Dees at Lasseters where there is a casino, safe to say can watch games there, a few restaurants and most likely players after the game.

Lasseters mound at the game isn't cheap, but could be worth looking into for a bit of fun. Give yourself some time up here, some amazingly beautiful places near Alice so if you have some time, investigate doing some of the tours on offer around

I'm flying up on the Friday and returning on the Sunday -  staying on the main street at the IBIS - cheap and Na$ty but will suffice for a bed. More than happy to catch up. @Rod Grinter Riot Squad has given the tip previously to spend some time around at some other places - I presume he is a local - so know what he's talking about!

Moved up here at start of last year, love it up here, working in tourist industry and think this part of Australia is just amazing, happy to give any advice....

IBIS, a short walk to the ground

going tomorrow for a holiday and off to the footy on saturday. Although after today not so excited or confident now. Excited to go and see Alice Springs and get some sun but I hope they play a lot better next week.

I've packed my bag and am leaving for the airport. ETA 1200. Any Demonlanders loitering up in Alice today keen for a drink and a yarn?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
