WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TIM SMITH

Featured Replies

Can't see any way Tim will get to 100 games with us, but however many he plays, good on him, he will have deserved each game, with the effort he has put in.

Sad outlook, always was one of my favourites when times were darkening.

Not really. He has come in and played his role when required and has had a good career which he can be proud of.

He has impacted a number of games, the majority of which he has not been gifted but has earnt.

There are heaps of people who never make it.

Considering we've had Pat McKenna and another player [Forgotten his name it's been that long] on the long term injury list without a game in 3 or 4 years, it makes sense to have Pedo in reserve for the foreseeable future if his body is willing. Who's to say he hasn't got another 2 to 3 years in him? He came back pretty fit in the off-season and shed a lot of kilo's. He might even have a massive tom mac like impact if given the opportunity later in the year.

He has a synergy with the team alike TMc.  it was these two running through our midfield and into the forwardline that did damage to oppo sides, last year... which dried up when Maxy returned early.

Now we have TMc playing wing frequently, so he can run thru the very some areas having a heavy impact, on our behalf.

I was calling for Lever to play up on wing, when he was battling,,, but that's all settled nicely now, and we have the size and bulk in the mid part of the ground taking marks, and adding run.

And Maxy is playing More physically this season, then he did last.  which also helps.

Its time they changed that 100 game law.

... to also include 5 consecutive seasons,,, or more than 6 seasons even if not consecutive,,, as the equal to 100 games. For those with chronic injuries, etc.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
