Agree, I watched that race live. Even copped the hit that pushed it wider at the 400.

I too took the odds lst night at 5.50

The big issue is if the track is worse than a Soft5 or if it rains on the day

But as previously stated I'm using bonus bets so the risk is diminished (somewhat!)

Caulfield Race 7, number 5 Sword of Mercy $5.50

I got on last night ... again, the odds are quite enticing for what I regard as being a very good sprinter

Sword of Mercy was only a length off winning an Oakleigh Plate

Agree. Those odds I thought were overs. I put the two and Beau Rossa in a multi paying $47.42 which I thought was too nice to turn down ?

Good luck with that Gorg

Randwick now a Good4 with only a light amount of rain forecast (0 - 1mm)

I've got our 2 (Hungry Heart & Sword of Mercy) in a double & Beau Rossa & Steinem (Morp R7) in another double.  The latter 2 should just win!

Yeah agree the second double should get the chocolates

Beau Rossa just couldn’t get the nose in front. Got boxed in a little as the turn came. Still rate it, think it will win many more. 1600 might be a bit far, 1400 might be best bet.

Nigh on perfect ride on Hungry Heart. Once it hit the front it didn’t looked troubled.

I loaded up on the $6 in the end!

Gotta love those bonus bets when they deliver the goods

Got Sword of Mercy going in the double so fingers crossed

Beau Rossa unlucky ... from the audio coverage it got out late and that was costly.  In front before and after the line?

Yeah got stuck, took a while to get out but once out it got to the other horse but couldn’t pass it. Don’t think it actually got past it.

Prague ran well considering it didn’t jump well but September Run was poor.

Well all in all not a great day, down around $20 if I include all my bonus bets (got 7 for the day) but if the couple that were photos went my way then it’s a nice profitable day. (Thought Paul’s regret was going to get the chocolates!) The fun and enjoyment of racing.
Might have to dial it back in the next week or two as I’ve got new parts for my bow I need to collect next Saturday which is going to kill the bank balance

Hope you did well.

Yeah we can bring the best bet up again in the Spring although I'm still all in with regards to the Brisbane & Adelaide carnivals (as well as the overseas Group racing)

The racing never stops as far as I'm concerned (with a high interest in the Group racing ... for instance, Eduardo & Nature Strip are both running in the Doomben 10,000)

But the overseas racing in our off-season is fantastic.  And the Racing channel & Sky often cover the big races

I've got the racing right up there with the MFC, the Aussies in Test cricket & the NFL

I loved Racing as a teenager into early 20’s got away from It mostly until a few years ago but it’s been the last 12-18 months I’m re-loving it.
I’ll keep going each Saturday just dial it back a smidgen due to the costs of the parts for my Bow.

I’ll still throw up a best/value bet as I really enjoy doing those with you.

The value/each-way tip can garner more interest ... mainly because there are a number of ways of including the pick in all sorts of different bets

For instance, I also had Sword of Mercy in a place multi with Beau Rossa (win) along with 'Good and Proper' & 'Finance Tycoon' ... ironically it was Beau Rossa where I missed.  Not to worry though, that's racing!

And if a value tip runs a place only one can get money back with certain betting agencies

A couple of weeks ago I couldn't find a value tip so went with 'Agreeable' (it won) but to get a return it's win only as the place dividend was too low ... including a shortie like that in an exotic bet doesn't add a lot of value either

But I had a more than decent day yesterday so no complaints

Each-Way Best (Saturday)

Randwick R7 No.10 Savatiano 8.00/2.40

Drawn ideally to get into a good position just off the speed.  Then it's up to Hugh Bowman

Good luck today Macca! Hopefully we get some good winners and a Dees victory to end the day!

Yeah, you too Gorg along with anyone else here having a dabble!

Got 'Ahead Start' & 'Mr Tee Kay' up early so a good start at least!

And if all goes well tonight as well (as well as Richmond having a bit of an off night) we might just salute.

The line is a bit skinny but it's nice to know that the bookies are giving us a bit of kudos!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
