7 is my lucky number so ...

Keeneland Race 7 No.7 Terebellum 11.00/3.30

Godolphin/Gosden/Dettori

2nd best ...

Keeneland Race 10 No.5 Swiss Skydiver 4.50/1.40

But the racing is high class with any number of high class performers.  Buyer beware JV!

Was spewing... Asked my brother & father what they liked in the last at Flemington, they were both on the #8. I looked at the $20 odds and laughed... They both had $50 the win at $21s ? Why I didn't follow I do not know

Also another topic of convo...

Reckon the channel 10 coverage of the Melbourne Cup carnival has been terrible. Usually 7 has the rights to Sydney races which is a good filler, I found 10 padding between races with garbage. Also sky not having the right to show Flemington is a huge mistake also. I found myself watching 78 over the past week & without HD isn't great but still between coverage than 10.

It had run a slashing trial (Leiter) but horses run slashing trials all the time and can't produce on the day

I was on the favourite Plaquette and it loomed large but no kick in the last furlong.  It looked the winner for quite a while

Been an interesting Spring for me ... I usually get a couple of really good collects which covers my overall outlay but every week this Spring I've broken even or thereabouts every Saturday.  Bit boring really!

Still,  it's a great sport/hobby and the thrill of winning anytime is always exciting.  Today I got a decent collect out of Arcadia Queen which is extra pleasing because of the class of the horse and the race itself (The McKinnon)

See I work Saturdays so it's only ever audio for me ... I watch a lot of replays though!

Ch78 gets a workout.  Previously I've attended the big days on any number of occasions

To me it's all about the racing and the build up to the races.  The shmaltz doesn't interest me

I really like the way the racing is covered in the UK and Ireland ... all about the horses,  trainers,  jockeys & racing.  Pure racing - brilliant!

That didn't end well!

You did ask!

My strike rate overseas is about 1 in 3 ... 2 out 3 nights there's zero collects and the other I'll do well or very well

Now,  if I only knew which 2 nights to disregard I'd be home free JV!

Replay time ... first of all the 7 main features from Derby Day (Flemington & Rosehill)

Replays from Cup day,  Oaks day & Stakes day

Once the Spring carnival is done we usually have a spell from the Best Bets until the Autumn

But there's still plenty of great racing inbetween including the big Sandown meeting next Saturday and then the Ballarat Cup meeting the following Saturday

Then the Ascot Group 1 racing from W.A,  Summer carnival from QLD and the racing out of Melbourne & Sydney still attracts good fields because of the prizemoney (which includes the $1Million 'Hunter' at Newcastle next Saturday & the $1Million 'Gong' at Kembla Grange the following Saturday)

And the Magic Millions in early January gets my attention as well.

I'll still be here posting up the odd preview and replay and if you've got any tips,  post 'em up!

Excellent card at Sandown tomorrow with some real value about

Avilius ($4) the class runner in the Zipping Classic and Gator likes Allibor ($12) in the Guineas at good odds.

The $1Million Hunter up at Newcastle is a wide-open betting race.  Ranier is the $6 favourite but Trumbull ($7) & Fiesta ($8) have real claims

Agree, some good races tomorrow. I’m out all day so won’t see much, but will throw on before I leave.

Agree on Avillus Macca, class above these but will be interesting to see if his peaked this prep & how his pulled up the Cup. I'm going with Future Score ?

Very good point about the end of the prep's versus the fresher horses.  Always that way at this Sandown meeting

Anyway,  got Anamoe up in the first with Ollie on board (double winnings too) so I'm close to playing with house money for the rest of the day JV!

Good luck to all today!

Had a good day thanks to Gator ... tipped me into 5 winners all at each-way odds (or thereabouts)

When he is on he's close to spot on.

For those who are interested,  Gator's tips are freely available through best bets & racing.com

I had a decent day, would have been better on a full collect on  Alliblr that I had at 11.25 instead of The $5.40 I got die to deductions

Same here but once the favourite was scratched Allibor's chances of winning increased a lot.  I originally managed to get 15-1 boosted but ended up getting 15-2 after deductions!

Still decent odds considering Allibor was a virtual moral to get into the finish even with Aysar running

I ended up $85 on the day, which considering I was out drinking from 1to 11 I thought I did ok. I was up more but threw on a few speculative trifectas that if I wasn’t up a fair chunk and half cut prob wouldn’t have tried. Got close with one tho. But stopped betting before I did something completely stupid ??

Haha!

I'd take that return anytime Gorg ... close enough to a $5k profit per annum.  But most punters are behind if the truth be known

And that sort of return pays for 2 week's holiday within Australia ... if one knows how to find the best deal's (who wants to travel overseas anymore anyway? haha)

It's how I generally go about betting on a Saturday ... a series of small bets to win moderate amounts with a couple of spec bets to win big.  For instance,  I'm using a few bonus bets at the Donald races today

And any bonus bets,  matched deposits & boost's all contribute towards a possible profit

So an interest becomes a hobby which then can become a profitable exercise,  however ...

#AlwaysGambleResponsibly

3 big Stakes races on tomorrow at 3 different venue's ... good quality Magic Millions race at Ballarat for the 3&4yo's as well

All 3 Stakes races are good betting races too

I’ve been on Junipal last 5 I reckon, prob will again but affair is a great horse and this field is decent.

The race is so wide open that the exacta could pay quite well (apart from the other exotics)

So that's where I'm going and I'm including the 2 that you've mentioned Gorg

Gator's tips at Ballarat tomorrow

Well not a good day for me, a few seconds so bonus bets but no winners. Had a good three weeks so no complaints. See how I go on the nfl games Monday.

Hope you all did better than me.

I'm in front after getting Big Boy Roy & Excess Funds up ... 2 value runners winning is sometimes all that you need.

But my exacta's haven't really delivered today.  Tough going trying to find a winner on Ballarat Cup day at the best of times but even the exotics are difficult

Got a couple of bets going at Ascot and if I get one up I'll end up having a good day

I sometimes do a pick 4 or 5 on the NFL ... Halftime/Fulltime the preference. I lean on 1 or 2 road teams if it looks like being one of those types of weeks (we should know by now!)

Wow! ... a more than decent performer is 'Inspirational Girl' ... cruised past them in the Railway under hands and heels by Pike

Meteoric rise for the lightly raced 5yo Mare but a trip to the East has to be on the cards soon enough

The All Star Mile in the Autumn looks ideal but the way she hit the line you'd imagine she'll get 2000m.

Have you blokes had a look at Winterbottom at Ascot today? (Race 9)

I don't mind 'Elite Street' (#13) at the value (20-1)

Trekking the obvious standout but a bit short for my liking

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
