Got a strong tip at Echuca Race 2 #14 - Sweet Home Alabama.. It's short enough $2.50 but thought I'd pass on

Just pipped!

Tavidance was tardy out of the stalls which put paid to its chances

But I got the exacta in the race ... got into the habit of putting our best bets into an exotic as another means of getting a collect

If the each-way or value pick wins the exacta usually pays well (as long as one has the 2nd place getter included!)

Now for the Cup.  A number of eyes will be on Tiger Moth from the wide barrier but I reckon it will settle back and attempt to come all the way around the field (Cross Counter style)

Yeah Macca I’m the same, I had outrageous in that race at $9 so I was stoked and I got the early quaddie, with a Small %, sin to win and the place of Grinzinger Lord on top of 3 bet returns means I’m in a good spot already today.

Good luck in the cup

As for the Cup,  my roughie is 'Twilight Payment' but there are any number of good chances that can win or get into the finish

Twilight is a roughie a lot like

Ended up getting the exacta which turned out alright.

Twilight Payment led from start to finish and a worthy winner.  Tiger Moth was brave in defeat

Did you have it included in anything Gorg?

Nah, stuffed up and went master of reality instead of Twighlight in my quaddie... could kick myself.

Ah well ... you'll probably do well with the Oaks on Thursday.  I'll post up a bit of a preview later on.

Real shame about Anthony Van Dyck and that's the other side of the sport we love.

Interesting couple of races to finish things off ... swoopers might prevail in both races

#6 in the last for me.

I was on Exhilarates as well ... thought The Astrologist was going to go past it but the horse fought on very well.  Great ride by McEvoy

A good way to end the day ... in front by a good margin!

Now for the Oaks!

Here's the Field & Form for the VRC Oaks

But tomorrow the Kyneton Cup is to be held.  First run in 1873!  We love havin' a bet in Oz don't we! Looks a good betting race after looking at the Form - one for the exotics

Field & Form Kyneton Cup ... Wednesday 4/11 @ 4.40pm

As for the Oaks,  Montefilia should at least get into the finish as the filly is a class act but the race is over 2500m and there have been many upset winners over the years

Star of Eden,  Vilanculos & Salto Angel offer up some real value if one is playing the exotics

I was going to put money on Humidor in Tokyo but with all the problems I didn’t and it saluted. No idea on odds tho

Curious... I've got a 3 leg horse multi as below:

Bivouac -

Red chase -

Viduka - Race 5 morphetville which was abandoned I assumed bet would be void and bet would be paid put on the other 2 runners. Should running those remaining races on Monday carry my bet over ? It says pending for that leg. I put that bet on under the view it would be run today, what if it pours rain between now and Monday & the track goes to good to heavy ? Unless with the issues today they haven't got around to voiding that bet yet

Oh really?

When did Humidor race,  today?

I loaded up on Arcadia Queen with bonus bets but should have backed Bivouac as well.

The double was there obviously ... the 2 best horses at the top of their game.

About to watch the replays but both sounded like they were ultra-impressive winning in style

You make a very good point JV

I'd be making a phone call

Yeah however it's only a small outlay & the pay out is $160 in difference so I guess to let it ride on a $2 fav to get the 3rd leg but still if I have $50 rather than $5 you'd be asking questions... I thought no point trying tonight with all the issues they had today

Yep, today.

I did the double of Biv and AQ so that was a nice collect, otherwise 5 bonus bets and a couple of places for me so all even for the day.

Morvada fought back well but the winner too good ... annoying when you get beaten by a horse that you've previously backed that has won (Sansom)

Does your head in!

Still, marginally in front today so will have a dash at the Breeders Cup meeting (Keeneland) in the early hours.  There's some real value about ... 9 x G1 Races!

For those who are interested the full form guide (and tips) for the Breeders Cup can be found at www.racingpost.com

Most of the betting agencies here are covering the Keeneland races

I'll be up having a couple of beers so lead me to some winners Macca! Betting on harness & dogs not getting me anywhere ?

Edit: unless I'm having breakfast beers maybe not!!!

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
