He could face  competition for his spot from either of the two Smiths particularly Tim.

I would be surprised if this happened, especially in 2017.

IF he can gain some consistency could well be the A grader we so desperately want and need

I find it interesting seeing this written about so many of our players at the moment.  Surely that suggests that the range of players we have on the cusp of "elite" is far greater now than in previous years.  Whilst I am not convinced that Dean will make that leap (I love what he does by the way) players like Jack V, and Jack W, Jessie, Max, Trac, Salem Jayden and Angus are all in that group.  I am sure I have missed a few.  Don't you love potential!!

Agree. i would say this is potentially the most talented list at the mfc for 50 years, surpassing the team of the early 90s.

I think all the players yoy mentioned are potential a graders (with max there and lewis fir that matter and jack v not far off). Oliver is def another with that potential.

i dont think kent will get there but that's ok. Great teams have a core of a graders, at least one or two absolute stars (and i think max, trac and hogan will fill this bill), very strong mid field and  alot of very good depth players (and almost no players not up to afl)

Kent wont have issues beating them for that spot. Tim is a completely different type of forward for one. Besides he has the attributes to be our best small forward. He just needs to find a way to consistantly have an impact when he isnt scoring. On a his day he's the best forward pressure we have (not that there's much competition for that crown). I like Jeffy but I suspect he will be out of the side quicker than Kent.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
