I'd be interested to know how those Darwin games impact on big blokes like Gawn and Hogan. I remember reading that Jono Brown would lose 5-6 kg during a hot game in Brisbane. Apparently this was all very closely monitored and he would be fed a huge hamburger and litres of drink immediately after the game. He would not leave the ground until measured levels of hydration and weight were re established.

That seems a huge loss of fluid in the space of 2 & 1/2  hours,  especially considering they would be constantly hydrating during that time.

Nevertheless, I'm also very interested in what Melb planned for the teams recovery:

1. Did they fly home last night or stay in Darwin? Pro's and Cons?

2. What was planned for today (Sunday)?

Does anyone know?

I have it sorted.

i just got a hyperbaric chamber cheap from a bloke in Sth Yarra.

we can rotate them through that for a few hours and hope they don't expire.

They got back to Melb about 3pm yesterday.  They were all still feeling exhausted.  Sunday was a get over the exhaustion day.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
