MFC members 2008 scarf?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry for the new thread but I'm curious if the MFC handed out a scarf in 2008 for members? I have a slight recollection they may have handed out a hat?

I have got all the scarfs to date since 2007 but have never been able to get one from 2008.

I purchased my first membership in 2007 and began to attend a couple games in 2009 and far more heavily in 2010 and on wards.

My fiancees mother is going to knit all the old scarfs together to make blanket and I figure what better way to use the scarfs from those miserable years than to keep our asses warm at games and to serve as a constant reminder where we came from and where those years belong. :)

Cheers!

They weren't given out with memberships that year, you had to purchase one for $25 and I can't recall if they had 'member' written on them.

That would explain it.

Thanks Ethan.

you could always get a spare 2003 scarf and alter the 3 to an 8

i don't think wada could be bothered chasing you on that

I remember getting a tie instead of a scarf one year, would have been around 2008...

Just in case we won and so I could celebrate in the Long Room after the great victory, I bought a tie as I walked into the 'G for the 1988 Grand Final. Haven't worn the damn thing yet.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
