I'm known by some of you as a physiotherapist, but am also an exhibited artist. I've painted football themed works in the past, and have just laid down the brushes on an old style Melbourne jumper to mark the start of footy season. If you're interested, I'm available for commissions, and am flexible with size and subject. Also have a website www.richardwebber.com.au. Facebook page : Richard Webber Artworks (more up to date).

Any thoughts on the jumper would be good too. I actually miss that scratchy wool feel. post-5858-0-82420700-1427173438_thumb.jp

very nice stuff richard.....congrats

Really do like your work... even more incredible after reading you are self taught.

Edit: I just realised that one of your works reminds me of a sculpture called Doghead by a Melbourne sculptor named Sam Jinks.

His work is terrific. Of the Ron Mueck genre, but possibly even more challenging. That painting you're thinking of was originally human headed. A commission by recently engaged friends. I playfully suggested they return it to me when they broke up. Guess what? I couldn't keep their recognisable heads in that situation, so turned them into cat and dog, which is how they fought. Glad you like it hardtack. Is your avatar a still from 'freaks'?

I saw that Jinks just recently had an exhibition in Hong Kong... the photos I saw showed a lot of perplexed looking viewers :-)

My avatar is meant to be from Freaks, but it appears to be a little too stylised; not to mention that fact that if it was from the original, it would have to be in B&W. Great film though... I have the DVD... did you ever see Woody Allen's Shadows & Fog which is a kind of "homage" to Freaks? If not, try to get your hands on it.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
