How do we attract more members to this Forum?

As someone who has only read this forum for a long time, you could all stop sniping at each other! I have never posted until now because I don't want to be taken apart for saying the "wrong thing". I am a new Demon supporter, because a family member is in the team, I am overseas and this is the best way to find out all the news. Interesting threads go way off track because too many people take offence to differing opinions. It is ok to have differing opinions, it is not necessary to crap on and on hoping to get everyone thinking the same way as you, or knocking them for thinking differently. Quite frankly some of you are just plain nasty.

Welcome to DL and welcome as a new Demon supporter, Bells. Any snippets from the family member in the team also welcome...no names of course!

As a new supporter you may not know of the NSC or the MFCSS that have befallen us. You will see those a lot on DL. They refer to 'Norm Smith's Curse' and 'Melbourne Football Club Supporter Syndrome". Both are obsessive and depressive afflictions that have proven very difficult to shake off. However, most on DL are beginning to believe those malaises are behind us.

Anyway, hope the Dees deliver for you or at least hope your family member player excels to his best.

Thanks for the welcoming messages. The Demons are the first AFL team I have supported. I have been an anonymous reader on here for a couple of years now. I have little inside info - when I catch up with my family member we rarely talk about footy (plenty of other stuff to catch up on) but I enjoyed meeting a few of his fellow players/friends when I was over at the beginning of last year, and was surprised by how friendly, normal and humble they were. I am hoping for a big year from him - and so are a fair few of you (going by this forum).

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
