R.I.P. Demonology

Recommended Posts

In some respects I agree. The point though is that the persons creating the havoc appear to be motivated by the opportunity to make money (for who and what we don't know?) and have leveraged the opportunity off their association with and volunteer work for and inside the MFC.

This goes to more than a simple of issue of the web being the wild west and may have implications of governance for the MFC?

Probably not.

So what though? They don't work for the club, they're not running the site on behalf of MFC. Why does it matter?

Granted, less serious than if they were paid employees but volunteers must still adhere to a code of practice. I've already said I don't know on whose behalf they are acting. Do you? If not, it does matter.

On whose behalf they are acting for what??! It's a free internet forum. It has NO power. I know it's annoying they're mucking the place up, but it has no implications for MFC whatsoever.

Just ignore me and resume panic.

im not panicked. I don't think Dr Who having my ology password is going to result in my properties being sold to Nigerian gangsters.

But I, and many others, spend years and years contributing to the site. Forgive us if we're miffed that its been destroyed.

For a bloke who claims not to care you've spent all day posting in this thread.

Take a breather fella.

OK then, what action can we take? Proposal:

Don't renew membership. When called by the club (maybe even by D2D) tell them you won't renew untill the club has clarified the association between the club and the [censored]. Then stick to it.

Alternative: state you don't give a damn and stop clogging up these threads.

Cheers. Noticed you quoted BH in your profile. Did you understand his post or did you only notice the error in grammar?

That part of it I have no problem with, and I have said that more than a few times here. You have every right to be cut about what's happened to 'Ology, but the panic about "mystery men" and "D2D" and "MFC governance" is kinda crazy.

That is absolute sheer stupidity.

MFC has nothing to do with 'Ology, and to take away your support for the club because of it is ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly Chook.

If you don't like it nor understand it, then resume your annoying behavior on other threads and continue with your childish video clips.

Or even better, head over and sign up, you'll be right at home with the current hierarchy.

Ah well, so it's dead and gone then. Move on I say. Wouldn't have thought so many would cry over it.

As my old man would say: you're so full of it you should be a nightcart.

I'd rather name you a troll.

Someone please ask Tim Stanes if he knows Gareth is the brother of the person who trashed the site all year and ask him how we can faith in someone who has denied that he was the brother of DrWho when we know that to be a lie.

Sadly Tim has no idea of the types of lowlifes he is dealing with!

Ed. and let him know we all wish him well.

Hello everyone,

My apologies for not sharing this with you earlier, but I suppose it is better late than never; and while I'm at it, I am very sorry for my long absence from the site. I hope this post will explain both!

As some of you may remember my health has been on the slide for some time. I finally have had a diagnosis after all this time. I have multiple sclerosis.

The diagnosis has cleared a lot of issues up for me. In this case, my increased inability to maintain Demonology.

A stage in the illness came at an unfortunate time; when I was rewriting the site to run on the I.S.P.s servers, which no longer supported the language in which I had written the it. Sadly I lost the ability to write code. I could not understand why. Now I do. Consequently much of the original functionality an all of my planned improvements were not completed.

I had been feeling guilty for letting you all down, but there was nothing I could do about it. However hard I tried.

It was not long after my diagnosis (which was in May/June) that Gareth approached me, via some people who I know quite well and whose judgement I trust.

Needless to say, it was with great relief that I passed the site over to Gareth.

I understand there has been some confusion and consequently come conflict regarding the new management of the site. I've not read the related posts and at this stage am not up to delving into the issue.

All I can do is ask that you take Gareth's posts in good faith an be aware that he has my support.

On a more personal note, I have just had my first treatment for multiple sclerosis and am hopeful of regaining some of the cognitive functionality I lost. My pain medication has also been increased which has helped a great deal. Who knows, I may even be able to get to a game of footy next year!

Kind regards

Tim Stanes

This was thrown up on Ology. If its true he has stuffed up big time...

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
