Brett Ratten

There has been lots of talk about how great our midfield under Ratten

Since midfield is our biggest weakness, Do you think we should consider him seriously as the Senior Coach or as an assistant Coach

He'd have to be in the top 5 contenders given he got somereasonable results with Carlton. 3 consecutive finals appearances and 3 losses by under 10 points in those finals series all interstae.

However Roos, Williams & Eade would have to be the front runners.

I like the thought of Ratten as our coach, probably not as good a PR story as some of the others. If we don't get Roos or Clarkson then I'd like us to get him.

eade has finished as a coach, same as rooswilliams. once your 2 years out of the high level job ,its too hard to commit 80 plus hours per week in the no1 position. bomber thompson has clearly stated that himself and said its easier to be a no2 man, without the 80 hour headaches, for this reason eade roos williams are all out.

brett ratten fits the bill ideally, liked what he did to take waite from backline to ff, and then get yarran to take the most running bounces from half back,

knocked back the pa job because of family commits to schools in victoria

worsfold definately no, never made a move in his life and only gets results when he has top 10 players

Based on coaches availabe and not contracted as a Head Coach (like Clarkson)

Matthews>Roos>Ratten>Williams>Thompson...................Eade

Liked Ratten alot when here as midfield coach and he showed plenty of grit and maturity around the Malthouse BS last year.

Matthews and Roos would bring plenty of cache and Williams great with a developing list

Leigh Matthews is so far past it you'd need to hire a second head coach to get him up to speed on tactics. You simply can't just go one on one and long to Lynch any more. He wouldn't understand the changes in training methods and all sorts of things. Heck he thinks Michael Hurley can't play in the backline because he's too ferocious at the ball, I mean start making statements like that and you are clearly confined to the commentary box.

Ratts has a few of the same problems that Neeld has. In that he struggles to connect with larger groups and to get his messages across to both his staff and players. For mine just like Neeld he is much better suited to being an assistant coach and dealing with a smaller group under someone elses overall direction. I would love to get him as an assistant coach.

I think you underrate Eade as a hard worker. He's doing media at fox footy as well as his Collingwood gig I really don't expect him to have any problems rising to the challenge of the work rate. He has a passion for coaching which means he loves the headache. He also has the fire that comes with taking two clubs so close without getting the final result.

And remember Gia, Boyd, Cross, Cooney, Griffen, Minson, Morris, Murphy, Picken are all the dogs are really as a group haven't dropped off too much individually. So I'd say if those 9 were part of Eade's main group that had a lot of success why are they now in a bottom 3 side? I'm thinking Eade can take a group of footballers a fair way. Remember he had an inconsistent Lake at full back, an undersized Morris at CHB and for most of the time they were a good side very little up forward. We've got a spine in place we need a coach who can teach hard running and skillful play.

Back on topic though I wouldn't say no to Ratten. He took a similarly bad Carlton team from tankers to around the mark and should only be improved after spending time with Clarkson.

went for the easy fix

forward line johnson.hall.akker.eagleton, werent capable of chasing out and cost them dearly

didnt want to draft for the future

thats MY opinion and its probably wrong. i just think if roos is out ratts is next best
