An interesting stat

Featured Replies

RGRS' delightfully eccentric lack of ability to form a cohesive sentence threw me a bit

Says this guy:

i'd prefer col prevented his opponents from kicking less goals, which is what he is there to do

Sometimes, it's hard to take some folks around here seriously...

Yeah, but all the players have been going backwards since Neeld came along. Are you sure that stat is correct!!!!!!!!

They have had to relearn a new game plan. I would have been shocked if they were immediately better. It's a process. One we will will come out better from.

It appears to me that on a few stat we are showing improvement

Stats aside the only improvement i want to see is attitude body language and ferocity

Another interesting stat: Jamar is #3 for average hit outs per game this year (32).

Thats more than Cox, and more than he averaged in 2010 when he was All Australian.

Would love to see him kick the ball a bit more though. He keeps handballing it off to players in worse positions and who are also too tired - turning it over too many times to count.

He has a good kick and should trust himself!

Agree, there seems some unwritten rule that if you are a ruckman you don't kick. That is unless you are at WC.

He's consistently been in the top 3 for hit outs over the last few years. It's what he does (or doesn't do) with it that counts.

Was just an interesting stat, he is averaging more than the past few years - you're preaching to the choir

Where is he in hit outs to advantage and 1%ers when compared to other ruck man. They're the 2 stats I care about.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
