Whats Our Future?

The club needs to desperately chase free agency players that will inject class & match winners or supporters will stop coming to games & membership will drop off affecting the bottom line. Our supporter base will not put up with another 2-3 yrs of winning 2-5 games a year. Serious questions need to be asked as to how our so called leaders who were winning ball just last year are now sitting in Casey, how we have gone from an attacking team who couldnt defend to a team that cant do either!

The members have paid over 5 mill to pay our debt off, more money on the footty dept, training facilities. I only hope that the tide will turn for Neeld........but I look at Adelaide who have gone from below us to top 4 with a new coach.

How long can members put up with this?

TBH, I loved going this year when big Mitch was strutting his stuff - he made other players stand tall, go harder and really perform.

Now, I just go to watch practice matches.

I'm sure the club is targetting - they'll need to be very active at trade time.

Our future will be fine.

We should - and yes I say should - have improvement in Strauss, Cook, Gysberts in 2013,

they have always been developing type players, athletic, slight on - need time to bulk up, mature

and all smart players who use the ball well. I expect big improvement from these 3.

They will be like new recuits, ready to go in 2013.

Luke Tapscotts had limited pre-seasons and limited time on the field since he was drafted,

I expect he will thrive with a full pre-season, add a much bigger body to our line up,

he is still maturing and will be greatly benefit from Neelds hard training.

Jack Watts will be bigger, faster and stronger in 2013.

Jack is a natural - athletically and by skills.

Watts will be starting to really come into his own in 2013.

Nathan Jones has shown massive improvement in 2012 and that will continue in 2013,

his work ethic is phenomenal and he leaves nothing behind in terms of preparation.

Jones will break into the elite status in 2013.

Jack Grimes is starting to show glimpses of bordering on elite, yes only small glimpses atm,

but dont forget he has had injuries this year, last and the year before and his tank is only just allowing

him now to break into the midfield - where he will be very effective going forward.

Now, on top of all this, we have Viney and another top 3 pick coming early in the upcoming draft,

aswell as a mid range pick, which sets us up very well going forward.

I've had more enjoyment going to practice sessions than games this year

Maybe if we selected a few witches hats for next week we may see an improvement

Amazing that our best player Clark has come from another club!

shows how shizen our leadership has been.......and makes me wonder how anyone can bring up the young captains as an issue anymore.... anyone who is still calling for one of the older players to be captain needs to have their head read.

Lets hope so.....bottom line we need more A graders in particular midfielders who can win the footy & kick to targets!

I look forward to a time when the on season is better than the off season DC

I think this says a lot about the development program of the MFC and/or our drafting.

Maybe we should just trade off all of our picks for players and forget about the draft all together!

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
