Well maybe a few more will come to see Couch's debut. At least crowd numbers will be boosted some more with his family turning out.

I hate ES but will be there tomorrow - keen to look at Couch and cheer on Brad Green. Not sure how many times we will get to see him again. Always loved his dedication.

That must be hard having a wife who loves the pies old dee.

My wife was an Essendon fan but i told her that if she wants to have kids or get married and not have our honeymoon in frankston that she must be a demon.

Now we are married and have 2 little demon members.

You are lucky - I married a Collingwood supporter who tried that tactic with me. He failed miserably but I still married him. To his credit, he takes out a Melbourne membership each year to support the club and will come with me when we play Carlton and wear my spare Melbourne scarf!

Actually BIG JIM she is pretty good not a mad Pie.

Has no Tats, all her teeth, has not been in jail and can count to 100 .

She genuinely feels sorry for me when I trudge home every week and throw my 2010 scarf in the corner and head for the single malt.

Mate rang me tonight and said are we going tomorrow?

Couch is playing his first game lets have a look.

So the tally just went up by two.

Not sure if it was that or the fact he said " if it gets too horrible we can always watch it from the bar"

Bit annoyed to find that the reserved seat option - advertised by the club a few weeks ago at $17 - has jumped to $25 on the Ticketmaster website, which becomes more than $31 when you add in the booking / handling fee!

Booking fee - I fxxx-ing printed the bloody thing myself !!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
