I understand both sides of the argument and I don't mind sitting next to opposition supporters as I do on away games. But there is a certain criteria I believe you should have to adhere to when you are a guest. I Go to Geelong every year with my father in Law who has a front row seat for me every time. If I ever went crazy in that section I could imagine the barrage of crap coming my way so I sit and watch and support but I do not start abusing anything and anyone associated with the opposition.

Sounds pretty bad, right? What's the difference? Discrimination is discrimination. Don't do it.

Wow, just wow...

There's a guest area for a reason and the tickets are non-transferable for a reason. End of story.

I disagree, but I won't act like I'm "amazed" at your opinion, because I think that's a pretty insulting thing to do. I'm against having to sit next to abusive people of any kind, but I think it's wrong to have a set-up whereby people are discouraged or looked upon disapprovingly for not being like you are. I don't like the idea of seperating supporters by what team they go for. Not only is it discriminatory (in the most accurate, non-judgmental sense of the word at the very least), but it also detracts from the footballing experience IMO.

On the other hand, there are probably a bunch of Collingwood supporters who wouldn't want to sit next to any Melbourne supporters either. I guess it's a fair deal to provide an area where closed-minded supporters of either side can abuse the opposition without fear of having to hear opposition supporters do the same thing. I just reckon people are missing out a little.

I suppose I shouldn't complain though, since by you guys paying the club a little more for the pleasures that come with living in an ivory tower, the MFC still benefits; and therefore, I benefit.

The irony of this being my incident at the Hawthorn game I was abused for sitting in a 'Hawthorn' area when it was GA AND a Melbourne home game...

Look, as far as I'm concerned if you pay to sit with MFC supporters you should get to. Guests, sure, but they need to remember it's a MFC area as well. That said, there is also something to be said for the fantastic experience our game provides, where you can (theoretically) sit next to opposition supporters at the game and be loud and proud yet on the way home it's all smiles once more. There's a balance to be had there.

That said, the number of times I've simply walked into the Jim Stynes Room and through to pull up a reserved seat with my GA membership and the blokes haven't checked...if you look the part they won't take a second look at you.

Oh, and I had the Collingwood supporters in front of me whinging that I was sitting where I was. Mostly because I contested the favourable Collingwood calls...

I'm not saying all supporters should sit in their own area and neither is the OP.

I'm simply saying that if there is a reserved Melbourne Supporters section, then only Melbourne supporters should sit there. If you or I or anyone wants to sit with supporters of the opposition, then there's several other areas of the ground where you can do that. Some people love sitting with a mix of both teams supporters and others don't. I grew up always sitting in general admin with both clubs supporters and personally I prefer sitting in the social club with only Melbourne supporters after having come close to blows on more then one occassion, that's my choice as is anyone's choice to sit in general admin or a guest area.

By your argument then anyone should be able to sit in the MCC, but we all know that's not the case. Those memberships to are non-transferable.

I completely agree with you about this, part of the reason I buy my premium membership is because I want to sit with other Dees fans. The St Kilda game was the one that really got to me, with a bunch of loud and obnoxious Saints fans behind us. They started goading from the first bounce but it took until the last quarter for them to be thrown out, turns out that they were actually there on sponsors tickets. I don't want total segregation, but people need to be mindful when they sit in that area that they are sitting in an opposition supporters area, if they want to carry on they can go and sit just about anywhere else.

According to the guy who runs the Redlegs (terribly sorry can't remember his name) there are no rules against bringing in opposition supporters, but there are designated bays where you are supposed to sit with your guests, I think this is the last two bays on level 2 where the Southern Stand meets the Olympic. The other thing to do is email the club and complain, if we don't let them know that we're unhappy then nothing will change.

There is a very easy way to change this problem.

Start winning games on a regular basis and the opposition supporters will not come within a mile of the area.

On second thoughts better get onto the MFC that could be a while off.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
