In response to HG ,

I personally love Tassy and every time I go I vow to move there one day .It must be very difficult to make a living there though as unemployment is so high ,education limited and mines ,logging ,fishing etc facing more regulation .The "Grey Dollar" may be a blessing for Tassy except I fear that the oldies who move there may be tight asses . Anyway ,Tassy will develop in some unexpected ways .I think many artists and musicians are moving there . Big town jokes or put downs about Tas are silly .I'm jealous of what they have .Plus we got your brother ,Howe ,and greeny from there .Thanks Tassy .

Yeah its a very peaceful place. I say to people don't knock it until you go for a look, if you then don't like it then fair enough. Probably one of the few places left in Aus where you can drive down to the pub on a Friday night, leave your car outside with the keys left in and unlocked (not good practice) and go back Monday morning and pick it up. Its like a big family - Yes we are all related!!!

I have a family that has generations of fishing and logging and that is drawing to a close, I started out fishing but got into the underground mines, which a couple will close down in the next 2-3 years, hence why I had to move away for better opportunities and money, the average wage in Tas is very low.

The Tas footy team talk started many years ago, when I was a boy and when everyone thought it would be great to field a team with Alistair Lynch, Darryn Cresswell, the Febeys, Matty Richardson, Andy Lovell, Paul Hudson, Darren Pritchard, Paul Williams, Brendon Gale, Simon Atkins, Jamie Shanahan, Doug Barwick, Graeme Wright (his brother is my lawyer!) etc etc. Back then it would of been ok, but footy has got so much bigger now and probably outgrown the state.

Tassie have had some fantastic brave footballers, many who didn't play in the VFL/AFL. Tassie people love their footy but I just think it would be viable. Great place to be and the locals will make you feel welcome. :)

Ha! He also got away with the 'clearing' banana that Foxtel blamed on Sellar too!

Im sure he's taken many for the team before though! What goes around comes around!

Nice one HG, but I dunno if it was such a good idea to let us all no such info....for your sanity that is, GL with that.

PS. I'm sure your proud of Col & to b his brother.

Yep , cover Blown .

I'd like to know what really went on leading up to 186 and what "Hells Gates/Cols" take on it was.

Hmm.. His Imperial Highness Vlad: Egotisitical, arrogant, dismissive, opionated, blinkered,obsessive.......and this is news ??? How ?? lol

Someone is Tassie taking a whiles to respond...... also news for why ??

Tassie WILL join the AFL when Vlad moves on....you heard it here first

The guy may have done well in making money for the game, but he is tearing it's heart out to do it.

I agree, he had to put his grubby fingerprints all over it.

Col.

Col spoke beautifully, glowingly about Jim and esp the work he'd done with reach.. (him, frawls and the captains - everyones been so good in such a crap period for the Mfc)

Would be great if you could thank him personally on behalf of Dees fans..

I will do that just for you. If one thing I have learnt from Jim it is to treat others how you like to be treated, if someone is doing a good job, let them know.

Nice.

Much appreciated mate.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
