Jumbo Returns

We all probably laughed back in March

But I reckon you are going to be very close come 1st September.

I hate saying this but very astute work.

My God RobbieF you are going to be very close.

I voted 14th and I thought I had you covered.

You are obviously a very wise man.

I will take more notice in the future

It gives me no joy but the both of us have known for a while that all was not well and I doubt we will be out of the bottom 4 next year either.

Hopefully we will recruit a bit better now that "he" has gone and we might get a couple of tough quick mids that can win and actually dispose of the ball properly.

We can only hope the next chief recruiter doesn't try to Cook the books and give himself an extra couple of years in the job by recruiting project players.

Yes RobbieF feels like I am dancing on someone's grave.

Damn straight. That's exactly what his game was.

That's a good point Robbie - picking project players gives one's self extra time

It also gives the opportunity to blame development when the projects don't pan out

Interesting theory on self-protective techniques and obfuscation

Always good to read through old postings/threads like this one. Sometimes we get it so, so right, and other times we get it so, so wrong. A couple of classic examples;

Apathy central over here, and very little hope. If we finish 10th I'll be surprised. If we finish 14th, I won't. If Richmond finish above us, I will officially resign. Edit: which delusional nutbag voted 1st?! Get help. Immediately.

Who do you have to write your resignation letter out to Jaded? :P

I hate to say it, but I think we'll be battling with Port to avoid the bottom (GWS and Gold Coast below - but they don't count).

Wow Ned, just wow! Can you please give me the lotto numbers for this Saturday night? Cheers.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
