Well done to Pittsburgh. As much as I would've like to have seen Nashville win it, the Penguins were the better team.

Yeah, they're team is beyond ridiculously stacked.. and they did it without their #1 D-man Letang.

Jagr signs on with the Calgary Flames and needs 57 games to break Gordie Howe's all times game played record, which is completely absurd.

Leafs are an offensive powerhouse and Nathan Walker becomes the first Australian to play in the NHL. Outstanding effort.

PLAYOFFS START TODAY! Where's the hockey love?

Love the NHL, no Blackhawks this post-season:(.

Looking forward to the Maple Leafs v Boston series. Maple Leafs owe them big time from a few years ago.

A day late but here are my picks for the first round of the playoffs (winners in dark italics) I'm not sure any of us that have a go at the winners have ever got any more than 5 correct but it's hard to see many of the underdogs progressing past the first round ...

  • Winnipeg vs Minnesota
  • Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia
  • Vegas vs LA Kings
  • Tampa Bay vs New Jersey
  • Boston vs Toronto
  • Washington vs Columbus
  • Nashville vs Colorado
  • Anaheim vs San Jose

As for which team can win the whole shebang,  could it be the the Vegas Golden Knights?  That would be something to see.

Winnipeg are in hot form along with Anaheim.  But it's playoff hockey where anything is possible.  And how far can Washington advance?

If today’s game is anything to go by Macca, the Vegas vs LA series could go down to the wire. Vegas more than held their own in the hit department but could that wear them down if it goes to 7?

They are one of the quickest skating teams I have seen, Vegas started the game well but gradually the Kings started to create scoring chances not so clear cut though, Fleury was great in goals for Vegas on the back of some good defensive plays by their D men.

LA needs Muzzin back ASAP, he’s a big loss, especially from an offensive production aspect.

I hope the Leafs knock those Bruins out in 4. Game 7 back in 2013 between those two was one of the most heartbreaking games I have ever seen. Leafs up 4-1 with 10 mins to go and lost 5-4 in OT.

Many would agree that playoff hockey is one the most exciting spectacles on the planet.

Tipping Nashville to win the Cup.

After the Leafs frustrating loss on Sunday (game 2) before the Dees.. I'm really hoping they can pull it together for game 3 at home tomorrow. That Pasta-Berg-Rat line is on fire.

Meanwhile the Caps are down 2 - 0 after losing both on home ice .. eek.

Preds or Vegas wouldn't be bad. Tampa seems to have found their mojo again.

Also Minnesota claw back (2-1) after the Laine violin rouse!

Watched the Caps v Jackets game today. Thought Columbus were a sneaky chance to win the series but didn’t expect them to go back home 2-0 up. Will follow them closely as Artemi Panarin is one of my favourite players. Still gutted the Hawks traded him.

Do you give the Kings any chance from 3-0 down?

The playoffs are indeed frantic, I watched the Boston v Leafs game this morning and it was non-stop action. Check out this ridiculous save by the winning goalie.

I've been told by a few who are right into Ice Hockey that the secret is to only watch the puck and not the players or the play.

It's hard to do at first but after a while you'll see the puck more.  Saving that,  technology might come to the rescue that will make the puck stand out.

Vegas Golden Knights sweep the LA Kings.

The Golden Knights became the first NHL team to sweep a Stanley Cup playoff series in its inaugural season. Bravo!!

The games were a lot closer than the series score suggests. Four 1 goal victories to the Knights.

Caps get back one on Columbus to keep the series alive and it looks like the Wild are up against it going back to Winnipeg 3-1 down.

Penguins obliterated the Flyers yesterday.

Good to see the Predators get the win.

One way traffic in the Penguins game yesterday. They should close it out at home in game 5.

Leafs V Bruins about to start, looking forward to this one.

Two great games back to back on TV this morning.

Late drama in both with the Flyers and Avalanche keeping their respective series alive heading back home for game 6.

LEAFS TAKE IT TO GAME 7 !!!!

Freddy has been unbelievable in net, made another ridiculous paddle save today early on batting the puck out of air while falling backwards.

https://streamable.com/ud7jm

Watching hockey in HD makes quite the difference (4k streams are even crisper and easier to follow), funny you say watching the puck I find it easier to watch the players movements and you can tell where the puck is. I can see how off putting it is for people new to the game, have tried to get mates into it but they all complain they're unable to follow the game (see the puck).

All these matchups going into the second round are going to be fantastic.

GO LEAFS GO!!

The scenes outside Air Canada Centre were awesome during the game this morning. Blue shirts everywhere.  The game itself, bloody fantastic!!

Capitals/Penguins match-up in the 2nd round of the playoffs could be a beauty.

Game 7 of the Toronto/Boston series is on Thursday Morning 9.30am AEST ... I reckon we'll get more of the same after today's ripsnorter.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
