Fremantle sack Mark Harvey

Featured Replies

Yes it will be.

Never heard before of a management group sacking the client because he made his own deal.

How silly does Kelly look?

Kelly couldn't do much as he couldn't represent RL in underhanded dealings against another of his clients.

I think that's what happened with Fevola at the start of the season. Did his own deal with Casey.

But then again he's probably not a good example.

Anyone see that one coming ?? a little left field..bout 3000 k left !!!

changes things...but not maybe our situation.

I actually posted on here a month or so ago that he would be the next to go this year.

Its a very good example. Lynch got sick of him ignoring his advice and having to continually bail him out repeated holes Fev dug for himself.

Speaking of Fev. Wasn't Harvey fairly open to the idea of Fev playing for Dockers? What now?

No. He just did not categorically rule it out. Dont make it what it isn't.

Not necessarily either.

They might not have not a coach lined up at all and are still searching.

My incompetenece comment stems from taking at face value Robbo and G Lyons comments that we didnt have talks with him at all. If not, why not ? Waiting to see what StKilda did ? pleassseee.....

Would be happy to hear down the track

1/ we talked to him but not interested ( because we were $2.5M trumped by Freo)

2/ We didnt need to talk to him because we already had someone in the pipeline

Would be unhappy to hear down the track that we didnt get a top line coach and we didnt talk to Ross Lyon because we didnt get the chance ( as both Robbo and Garry said).

you may hate how cold blooded and ruthless both Freo and Lyon have been but we could use a dose of that ruthlessness

Or 3/ he did not accept the invitation to talk.

It would be good to know the facts. There are a number of possible outcomes.

Where have I said that?

I have lauded the move a number of times on this site.

We'd have to at least talk to Harvey. His record is just a bit over 40% but there has been no side more badly hurt by injuries than the Dockers over the past 18 months. Of all the recent coach sackings he is by far and away the most unfortunate. He is a hard bastard and could add real value to the Demons. He often talks in riddles (obviously spent too much time with Sheeds, but I think given the circumstances his record is good and he certainly put a bit of steel into the flaky Dockers.

Not a huge Harvey fan, feel sorry for him, but a pretty dog act by Freo and Ross Lyon proves his moral standaing - Zero. wouldnt be surprised to see Harvey at GWS with Sheedy, good luck to him.

Gary on the footy show gave me the impression we have a coach locked in. hopefully MM

It's just been pointed out to me that the top six teams from 2010 will all have new coaches in 2012. Collingwood - tick; St Kilda - tick; Geelong - tick; Bulldogs - tick; Freo - tick...and who is the other team? (Adelaide? Or have I been living in a bad dream all this time and it was Melbourne...)

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
