Speaking of curses, can we remove Chip from that banner before it's too late?

Davey - injured, was about to be dropped.

Green - horrible season, should be dropped and stripped.

Grimes - injured, wasn't in good form.

Sylvia - dropped, will most likely leave.

Jurrah - dropped, poor season.

Scully - injured, poor form all round.

You lot can talk about sackings and politics and who might go where, but I'm onto the important issues.

The "curse" is supposed to have started with the pathetic attitudes within the club hierarchy when Norm Smith was stabbed.

As far as I'm concerned, any curse ended last Saturday. Our lean period being effectively bookended by the worst (Fitzroy, 1979) and second worst (Geelong, 2011) losing margins in footy history.

From now on, talk of "curses" and the rot within the administration are totally unacceptable and absolutely over. Hopefully the reasons for the years of failure are now well and truly in the open, and being addressed by tough uncompromising leadership. Lessons learned, failures behind us, culture being adjusted to one that demands success at all levels throughout the club. And supporters right behind such resolve for mental and physical toughness.

Jack trengove does not believe in curses.

Yes! Get him into leadership quickly.

I often look at that banner and think the same thing. The dreaded Curse of the Banner.

Agree with the sentiments on the Norm statue. :)

I was thinking the same myself. And Jim is still gravely ill. Even Chip has had a bad year with his bicep injury and only recently has he gained some form.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Geelong

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
