Hi, have you watched any Casey games lately? I ask because I haven't seen the games myself and the reports on Strauss that I've read haven't been glowing, but maybe you've had a different view.

Grimes to midfield. Joel Mac to take Grimes' spot.

the thought of grimes in midfield gets me far too excited

Watts has to play this week IMO. Yeah, he only had 6 possessions, but if his "teammates" had've honoured at least half of his leads, he would have had 20+. I don't know what it is with Jack, he presents bloody well, but seems to lack support from a few in the team.................

Could it be the rest of the team don't "trust" Watts. Garry Lyon wrote an article about AFL/VFL reserves sides and discussed the Filth, who had ready made back-half replacements that included Simon Buckley, and that the team "trusted them". Don't know how you go about getting "trust" except to really earn your spot. Maybe Watts needs a decent stint at Casey to earn respect. Just a thought. Throw away one liners in the press suggest Watts has little respect outside the MFC

who will come in for beamer?!

What about Tapscott into the mid-field, at least for bursts? (With MacDonald an in. ED: maybe Pettard, Ricky made his name early as a defender.)

Look, I'm totally behind Watts, but I am concerned as to why they don't acknowledge him more on the ground. Maybe the senior players are annoyed at the fact that he is continually being picked with not as much justifation as other players, and some more proven, consistent performers are in and out of the team. I don't know if it's a trust/confidence thing, but I think it was more noticable yesterday, to the point I was quite disappointed with some of our players. I spoke to a recently retired player a couple of weeks ago, and without saying any names, he did mention the fact that a couple of ex-players were disappointed about getting the tap on the shoulder, while some players were getting picked because of the number they went in the draft rather than form. Maybe this is an opinion shared by a couple of players and could explain the lack of delivery to JW. On the other hand, respect isn't given away for free.

I have no doubt there were games last year where he was leading to the wrong spots, but I think this year he has played a hell of a lot smarter. My comments yesterday where that we were too Jurrah-focused going forward, and sides that are that way inclined, will always get punished by better teams.

At this early staeg in his career, I'm sure Jack is a big confidence player, we saw it towards the end of last year when he had a few games in a row where he performed well in. If you watch the first half of last weeks game, I thought he played as good as any Melbourne player on the ground. Is this the perfect week to really make him think about things and chuck him at CHB? I don't think it will hurt us too much on the scoreboard if he were to play on Dixon, especially if Rivers is near by to help out if need be. If he can shut down a player and provide some run out of defence, maybe it will help gain some respect with his teammates.

However, none of us know what role Bailey wants Jack to play at the moment, and further to that, what the instructions are to the other players when going forward.

Unless it was James McDonald, tell him to move on and few would disagree with the coaching staff on the changes.

Sorry Bay, if you had've quoted the rest of what I said, it was about their disappointment about some players getting picked becuase of where they were selected in the draft, rather than form. Maybe some of the current players feel the same way, maybe they don't.
