FOOTY'S BACK!!!

3/ interchange & A Sub!

And It's back! Open football, and real footballers will be the winners.

I must say, I was one that opposed the rule but thus far I can't fault it. It's given the clubs the opportunity to take someone off without being down an interchange player and if lucky enough to not have an injury (as we were last week) it can be used to great tactical advantage.

Still early days, but so far it seems everyone was panicking over nothing.

And, IMO, we're starting to see 'Open Footy' again, so far, with the long kick and some high marking returning. Lets see how it evolves this year.

IMO, we may need either 3 Inters, with 1 Sub + Emergency;;; Or 2 Inters, with 1 Sub & 1 Emergency...

This is better for "Footy".

2 interchange and 2 subs, no runners allowed

2 interchange and 2 subs, no runners allowed

So, how would coaches make moves/instruct players during the quarters??

So, how would coaches make moves/instruct players during the quarters??

I can't tell if 2 inters could work in todays footy.

But we played with 20 players for about a century.

On the games so far this year, with 3 interchange, and 1 Sub,,,,, the flooding seems to be reducing, and the longer kicking seems to be returning. To me this is a plus.

But we'll have to wait and see if the reduction of 1, will stop the lousy floods. So far, the game is opening up, but I wouldn't want to guess what the coaches will come up with during the course of this year.

As far as, what will the Coaches do to earn their money. They can do what Norm Smith did.

I, for one would rather the game be about the players, than the coaching tactics. 90% about the players ability,,,,,,,,,, 10% about the coaching panels.

Not the way it has been recently.

Edit* Sorry skipper, I thought that question was directed to me. I missed your humour.

I think 3 interchange with 2 subs would work better than 2 & 2.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
