haha he sounds like a great fella

"Unfortunately, my worst fear is realised. We are roomed together alphabetically, which means I’m with Jack ‘Good Times’ Grimes. His nickname ‘Good Times’ is actually sarcastic, because the bloke is more serious than a funeral!"

Man I wish I had been lucky enough to have their 'job', what a life it would be

I like the bit about Warnock on the bus. ipod goes in, otherwise the two hour trip will seem like 4 hours...

Colin Garland's article (MFC website) -

Quite amusing insight from Garland

Costello should take note.

My mother said "it's always the quiet ones you've got to watch".

Digging deeper into that article it seems that 'Garlo' might have to watch his back from a little while.....and young Howe as well. I wonder whether the shavers might come out the night before the team photo?

All good CLEAN fun it seems.

Gee what a refreshing alternative to the loose overconfident hussy that has haunted the 'Aints'.

Go Dees - Building for the present.

A couple of months ago I was at my local supermarket in Hobart. I was in the line for the check out and just in front of me was no other than Colin, his younger brother and his Mother.

Colin and his brother were joking around and although I couldn't hear what they were saying the checkout chick was giggling a lot. Then their Mum gets involved. Telling everyone around about how much toilet paper she has to buy because of her two sons [censored] so much. Geez it was funny, had everyone laughing. Really seemed like an awesome family.

Awesome article. Garland is an entertaining writer, hopefully this becomes a regular thing.

can we officially refer to Grimes as 'Good Times' from now on?

Too late.

It's already stuck.

Goodtimes Grimes.

I agree. You can tell he enjoyed writing that too.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.
