Trengove: Stay with me Scully

Featured Replies

Its a hard decision, but what Scully decides will dictate what he is thought of for years to come...

Leigh Colbert comes to mind, he wasnt thought of as highly when he left the cats for north...

Something that needs to be remembered is that Melbourne took Jeff White off the Dockers after 2 years, so we have been in a GWS situation before...

Yeah but we (I believe) gave up our number one draft pick for white. If scully (and I hope to hell he doesn't go) leaves, we will not get a number 1 pick for compensation, judging by the ablett to gc deal..

No, I was talking about the Friday night Triple M broadcast. He was confident about Gazza leaving early on, an unlike Hutchy and others, didn't change his mind every week.

Gazza ? What else ?

These kind of journaliists make several predictions every week, they're bound to get one right.

I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but what is so exciting about this? The headline was a bit sensationalist, and the comment from Trengove amounted to "yeah, I'd love to be a one club player". Every player who has ever played the game has probably said this - until they don't anymore. There was even an "at this point" quote thrown in there!

I already love Jack Trengove - seems a quality bloke and will definitely be a quality player, but this was a nothing article.

Yeah, I thought this response would be the second post in the thread.

I was just trying to pour some water on the Scully-is-leaving let's-organise-a-mass-suicide fire.

Unfortunately to do that, I kinda had to ignore common sense for the greater good.

Fortunately some of our supporters either agreed, or aren't too sharp.

Either way, this calmed the situation a little.

So keep it to yourself Nasher!

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.
