Oh yeah ... but I'm still thinking about not having a chance at winning the SB.

Big win by the Rams ... they needed to bounce back and they did so.

And KC losing opens up the race for that division ... Chargers look likely but Oakland are right in it too.  The Bills are back in a wild-card spot after today's win.

Jags losing was costly for a few tipsters here ... we're running out of weeks to catch Clint.  It's time for some creative tipping with 2 points on offer for week 13.

Clint gonna be super hard to beat from here.

Rams were so good. Saints are a really good side, and from what I saw they were playing well. Goof just keeps on keeping on. Little bit scared of them now.

December in the NFL is the best month (apart from the playoffs) ... there are any number of mini-finals and/or elimination games to focus on.

Tomorrow's game is a big one for Baltimore ... then next week we've got about 5 mini-finals and another 5 games where one of the teams involved needs to win to stay in the race,  strengthen their position or hold their position.  Every week thereafter tells the same story.

There are no other sporting leagues where this is the case ... in many sports the fans are by this stage hanging out for finals/playoffs. Week 13 games

Rams for the win!!!

Was massive to beat a good side in ripping form and we lead all game pretty much.

You neglected to mention the tie breaker you have now with them. After a loss, Rams were supposed to fall by the wayside. Instead, here we are, still none the wiser about what the hell is happening in the NFC. Eagles only need one loss to fall back into the playoffs more with Vikes, Rams, Saints etc etc...

As a die hard I'm looking around at who can hold back the Eagles. With a 1 game lead, it has to come from one of the last 5 opponents. I'll put a line through Giants and Raiders for now, on form... Seattle with their injuries should be beatable. Dallas in week 17 might have given up the fight, or might not even be a live game... That leaves your dreaded Rams...

So here we are comparing a top-flight Goff outfit to a top-flight Wentz outfit. We're going to have to do this again and again as the years roll by, and as the lists are overhauled every couple of years, as they are in the NFL. I could go into more detail with Defensive coordinators, offensive schemes, away form etc... but the way I see it is simple. Vikings scare me because of how organised they are, but they have a QB that I'm not sure about. Seattle have injuries. New Orleans have been beaten, and I'm not sure their D is as outstanding as it has been in recent weeks... But the Rams...

The Eagles have got a lot out of a QB with one or two accuracy problems who has been in outrageously good form behind a dominant O line. What makes the difference for them though is that the defense (run D particularly) is making life veeeery comfortable for the offense, Giving them heaps of opportunities (=2nd in give-take turnover stat). Why do the Rams worry me?

- O lines are comparable.

- D lines are comparable. Donald might be the best in the league. Cox not far behind.

- Receivers are multi faceted, if not out-and-out stars. Watkins = Jefferey. Kupp = Agholor. Ertz = Woods.

- QBs are evenly matched I think. Wentz on the move has an advantage. Goff's arm accuracy is slightly ahead.

So what's the difference? Not much. That's what worries me. Rams are good in all the areas Eagles are good. I get the feeling Blount, Ajayi, Clement and Smallwood vs Gurley and Austin could decide it. If Gurley can break the Eagles impenetrable run D... then they might have the edge.

Still can't work out why the Jags called a passing play on second down with 30 seconds left. Run the ball and go to OT. It's not that hard.

Woods prob doesnt play vs you guys.

Our secondary is weaker than yours I feel.  Vs the Vikings we couldn't get to the qb. So we struggled. Interesting to see if we can pressure wentz enough to help or secondary.

Might come down to special teams ?

I feel like Eagles secondary gets helped a lot by other things... like time of possession, and how Wentz controls the clock and hasn't turned the ball over much. And obviously they get their picks because the front 7 put so much pressure on the QB. Rams are a different animal, with so many options, including a pass catching RB. Something Eagles haven't countered well... Also the secondary, outside of Jenkins, is all no-names. As many have pointed out, they've only played two teams with winning records, and lost to one of them. In a couple of weeks, we'll learn a lot about Philly. Rams I think we're seeing what they are already. They've seen through a lot of tests.

Zay Jones with some fancy footwork ...

2 big points on offer this week and a good line up of games on offer as well ... Vikes @ Falcons,  Lions @ Ravens,  Pats @ Bills,  Panthers @ Saints and the Eagles @ Seattle stand out.  As well as that there are some danger games for KC,  the Rams & Pittsburgh.

Good luck with your tips!

In other news ...

Eli Manning embraced New York, and New York loved him back -- until it didn't

Quote

He was nearly run out of town before he delivered the biggest victory in franchise history, the Super Bowl XLII triumph over the 18-0 Patriots. After Eli beat Brady and Belichick in a second Super Bowl four years later, Giants owner John Mara said the quarterback will go down as the team's all-time greatest offensive player.

Eli will survive, and he might even thrive for another team. But even if he doesn't have another postseason run in his right arm, he has already done enough. He made a lot of noise in New York without ever raising his voice.

Talk of him to Jags. I think Jags can do better.

He's a pocket passer with very little protection since McAdoo arrived ... he'll find another home as he's a QB in that 15th - 25th best range.  But it's watch-this-space anyway - anything could happen at the Giants with regards to their coaching and their GM.

My guess would be that Eli will eventually end up elsewhere as a starter ... somewhere in the AFC?

Jags only because of the Coughlin thing. I don't reckon he'd be too much of a massive upgrade on Bortles. They might think about it if they can get something good for Bortles, a la the Bradford trade when Eagles got Wentz.

So Giants to take a QB in the draft... But which one will be competing against Dak and Carson (and Cousins maybe?) for the next ten years?

I disagree Dappa ... but I've always been an Eli fan.  A severely underappreciated 'big-occasion' player.  He's never been consistently good but he's often been great.  Many QB's never even reach the 'good' status.

Luck plays no real part in one SB win but Eli got 2.  The only credit he ever seems to get are back-handed compliments

The Giants offensive line of late has been beyond putrid and for a pocket passer like Eli,  that's a recipe for disaster.  McAdoo is a terrible head coach - the sooner they are rid of him the better.  Let's be honest here,  for the fans of the other 3 teams in the NFC East,  they'd be hoping that McAdoo stays on for as long as possible.

Eli is a lot better than a number of starting QB's right now ... Bortles included.  The Jags should make a play for him now as their window is opening up.  No time like the present.  Denver,  the Jets & Buffalo are other likely destinations for the 2-time MVP Super Bowl winning Eli.

This won't go the same route as what it has for Kaepernick.  There's 5 teams in the AFC alone that need a decent QB.  And at the rate that QB's are being injured in the league,  Eli would be looked upon as super-resilient.  He doesn't miss games.  He just needs a decent coach.

Yeah I didn't mean to sound like an Eli hater. He looked fine when he had a single super WR to throw to only a month or two ago...

What I mean is just the time factor. He turns 37 in a couple of months... so using Peyton as a guide, he has a couple of good seasons left and then would fall away steeply. (Peyton might be different as he was massively banged up, but still...)

So the argument then becomes what are you losing Bortles for and what are you gaining. Eli for a couple of years to contend, then you have to go look for someone again? Maybe that's what they'll do. It certainly worked for Broncos when their D was winning them games. JAX should and probably do rate their D that highly... So there might be something in your suggestion. I also reckon Smith would go great at JAX as well, btw.

As for NFC East fans... we went from liking that McAdoo was there to just being resigned to the fact now that he has 5 games left, maximum. He's done. Frankly, I've always felt the same about Garrett. MInd you... I had no time for Dougie P either, and look how that turned out. maybe I'm just negative.

It's about winning right-now in this league .... that whole build,  build,  build for the future is old-hat for any number of big overseas sporting teams.

The Jags almost certainly won't be winning a SB with Bortles nor will Buffalo,  Denver,  the Jets,  Miami,  Cleveland and a number of other teams with their stating QBs.

Eli has currency even if it's just for a few years ... again, it's a win 'now' league. Soccer works the same way.  NBA less so but veteran top players are still in high demand.

But the argument still rests with the Giants offensive line - they leak like a sieve and Eli is not Cam Newton or Russell Wilson.  And they have a woeful head coach who is clueless.

He threw Eli under the bus earlier in the season and refuses to take responsibility for his team's poor output - it's always someone else's fault with McAdoo - the cynic in me sees a bloke aiming for his pay-out.

Or aiming to maintain some dignity as he's kicked out of NYC.

Yeah. NFL is a three year rebuild league. No reason to take the MFC approach to list building. The trouble with that logic is that these other sides who are close, and some that are miles away like the Browns certainly COULD benefit and "win now." But if they could, why can't Giants? I always thought why not do the Favre>Rodgers thing of letting your first round pick QB settle in for a couple of years behind the beloved veteran. In fact I always assumed that's exactly what they'd do next year. Surely Geno Smith is a known quantity...

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere
