Port goals, that is what you call a 12 point turn around. Good stuff Morton..

Dammit.

Morton should have taken the shot on goal and as always the bloody turnover results in a goal just when Melbourne was getting a run on.

The roll of the ball is certainly going Port's way this afternoon. Lucky Gray!

Morton should have two goals. Unbelievable.

Morton is not up to it!!!

No, they're beating us. Too many turnovers. That goal was from a Morton turnover.

we are witnessing how silly mistakes cost games as we speak. Morton fluffs a certain because he wants to be cute, port rebound, score, we loose momentum and confidence.

Morton should have stayed in the vfl, and not get a senior game until he goes through puberty and puts on 20kgs.

Is anyone else finding this game bloody frustrating all our hard work over the past month is coming undone the decision making is pathetic

Come on Wonna! Good forward pressure, need to convert

I don't believe in 'hocus pocus' but there may be something to this ground 'voodoo' thing. We are inexplicable playing sloppy.

Trengove getting a bit of a bake for not playing on to honour our lead and space in the 50. Went sideways and allowed Port to clog up the 50, and we didn't score.

Jurrah marks top of the goalsquare. If he misses I might as well give up...

Siren sounds. Jurrah goals. Phew.

5.10.40

8.2.50

IMO we're closer than we deserve, but 10 points is overcomeable if we can eradicate the turnovers and lift our intensity.

5 straight to 2 goals 4 this quarter. This is excruciating.

Good goal, go in to the big break down by just 10. Jurrah goals!

Jurrah marks and goals after the siren

Port 8.2.50

Melbourne 5.10.40

Dunn starting to show some forward nouse from the previous few weeks, jurrah lining up, puts it through... well well well.. we are only 10 down at halftime...What a difference it makes when one or two decide to start playing.

We are missing Davey and have some passengers at this stage. we are well in it.

We're kicking like Collingwood.

Hope Bailey tears shreds off them now....

No, it was because he is lacking cajones and confidence.

However he did look great in defence towards the end of the quarter.

lets just hope port run out of legs having just 3 on the bench.... then again MFC have Morton, so i guess its even!!!

bruce getting alot of the pill, but i hate it in his hands, he handballs to players in trouble, cant hit targets with his kicking, much prefer him to have lower numbers or use the ball better instead of causing pressure for his teamates

Some stats:

Jamar just 1 handpass, but doing well in terms of hitouts.

Bennell 2 and 2.

Bail 3 and 3, didn't hear his name once in the second quarter.

Jones 2 and 4

Watts 4 and 0, but 3 marks, a goal, and a great effort to wear a bump that got us a goal.

On the other side,

Bruce 9 and 13 (Cornes went to him and slowed him down)

McDonald 9 and 7 (got nice words from Wakelin)

Dunn 10 and 1 with a goal

Moloney 4 and 10

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
