Rhys Stanley

Melbourne need to add a key forward for next season. Preferably a full-forward with some size.

With StKilda signing Kosi to a new 2 year deal, I believe this is our chance to pounce on a young Rhys Stanley.

With both Reiwoldt and Kosi in the side, opportunity maybe scarce at StKilda for Stanley. He seems to be there devoloping backup at StKilda.

Can we offer him a forward post in our best 22? I think he would fit in nicely at full-forward. I can see him being similiar to a Kurt Tippet.

Thoughts?

Any other forward options worth trading for?

He's interesting, But, what would you give Up for him?

We already have one Stefan Martin, we don't need two.

i would much rather go after Taylor Walker

Good luck :)

Stefan is an interesting one. I admit to being one that saw him as our big bustling key forward similar to Tippet at Adelaide. His progression this year has been hampered by being thrown around to every position possible...

If only PJ could improve his contested marking. He and Jamar rotating through ruck and KPF would be potent with the rest of our forward line.

Mentioned in another thread - Aaron Cornelius. Same sort of thing at Brisbane with Fevola and Brown.

Sorry to re-post, but i posted this in another thread.

Could David Hale be the answer to our problems.

Bailey has articulated very clearly that one missing link in the forward line is a big bodied tall forward.

David Hale is 201cm, 103kg. 127 games, 117 goals is pretty decent ratio considering the guy has mostly played 50% forward 50% ruck. 26 years old, so definitely not too old.

We really need a 2nd ruckman as well, so 2 birds with one stone. PJ is crap as a forward, while Hale is a genuine big target.

I think Hale could possibly be the 2nd Ruck/forward we were looking for. Is certainly talented as a past top 10 draft pick.

And most importantly, is on the outer at NM, so might be looking for greater opportunities. Goldstein and McIntosh are ahead of him in the ruck. Petrie ahead of him up forward. Probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg

I would have thought a perfect target for CG ... maybe why he is on the "outer" at North

Stanley would be a terrific get but seriously doubt the 'Aints would let him go easily.

Hale would be a good one to go for, I reckon North would be happy to trade.

Our first pick in the draft!

Our first pick in the draft!

Nah, I doubt he'll be a SuperStar, so I'd take my chances in the draft pool with pick 1.

Taller players take a little bit longer to come on. I think he would be a valuable asset.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
