Demons in Warrnambool

Interesting. I wonder how long that would keep him out of the team? Will they rest him for the next game as a precaution or is a week and a half long enough?

It's a split round so he has plenty of time to heal, he will play Adelaide.

first time poster, long time reader... have a bit of inside knowledge around the club, so i'd thought i'd share that Tom Scully is not on the trip as he is getting his wisdom teeth out tomorrow

that is all :)

Welcome DeeStarr. Really appreciate info from 'inside'the Club, where appropriate.

Good info DeeStarr...thanks for that update

Spoke to one of the players today after the trip and they thought it was an awesome few days. It seems like a great initiative that Beamer has started, definately something you would expect from a potential future captain!

Also wanted to comment on Watts' taping on the groin area...I know that players with Osteitis Pubis have very very similar taping to this area. Definatley not saying JW has osteitis, but possibly he has just been sore in that area and this is a precautionary taping...

Just a long shot though...

I was going to post the same and I am sure Sylvia had similar tape that assisted him in his early days.

I think the point of the tape is to aid with stability. but rather than OP, it may be becase of his earlier back problems. Thatwould make sense asits only on one side.

Given he is doing full training it seems more precaution or something they are managing that an actual injury.

In saying that I actually have no idea and it's all a guess...but it doesn't seem like surgery or anything we should worry about.

Seems like a 'wise' move by the club during the week off...

For those of you who wanted Watts to get knocked around a bit at the camp. He has a broken nose from a hook... i think from Moloney

Can anyone confirm?

More evidence that Beamer is a natural born leader. Should be captain next year for sure!!!!!

Couldn't agree more, Redleg! Beamer is living his dream -- playing for the club he loved as a kid! And, he's doing it with real, genuine passion -- both on and off the field! I am just so thrilled for him.

Last Saturday he was absolutely spent at the end of the match. He gave absolutely everything in his desire to get the team across the line. With cramp in both legs, his final disposal of the match had to be a handball off to a team-mate. He could then only watch and hope, but alass, not to be...

Next Captain? Really think he's hard to go past.

Go Beamer! Go Dees!

In the preseason he missed most games because of a back complaint, He wears the tape for posture.

Agree R24. I have to admit to being uncertain until this year, but from what I have seen and heard of his work, both on and off the field, I'm now convinced that he would be my choice when Junior steps aside.

I can... Its according to Max Gawn.

Fair enough. I'm guessing young Jack will be glad he doesn't have to go next year what with Chook belting him last year and Beamer this one.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
